Getar
Getar (Գետառ), formerly spelled Gedar, is a small river in Armenia that flows through Kotayk Province and central parts of the capital Yerevan. It originates near the village of Mayakovski at the western parts of Gegham mountains, flows through Avan-Arinj and joins the Hrazdan at the outskirts of Yerevan. Its length is about . The bridge In 1664, a bridge was built on the Getar river near the old Nork district in the opposing side of the entrance to Yerevan Zoo. The structure was built by an architect named Grigor with the financial support of '' vardapet'' Hovhannes of Nork. The bridge held a great significance in the past because it served as the only way of crossing from the north to Yerevan. It was one of the few buildings in the area to survive the devastating earthquake in 1679. Under the Soviet rule in the 1950s, the bridge was renovated and was granted state protection. Kotayk Province
Kotayk ( hy, Կոտայք, ), is a province ('' marz'') of Armenia. It is located at the central part of the country. Its capital is Hrazdan and the largest city is Abovyan. It is named after the Kotayk canton of the historic Ayrarat province of Ancient Armenia. Kotayk is bordered by Lori Province from the north, Tavush Province from the northeast, Gegharkunik Province from the east, Aragatsotn Province from the west, and Ararat Province and the capital Yerevan from the south. Kotayk is the only province in Armenia that has no borders with foreign countries. Hrazdan (river)
The Hrazdan ( hy, Հրազդան գետ, ) is a major river and the second largest in Armenia. It originates at the northwest extremity of Lake Sevan and flows south through the Kotayk Province and Armenia's capital, Yerevan; the lake in turn is fed by several streams. In the Ararat plain it joins the Aras river along the border with Turkey. Its waters join the Kura river, before flowing into the Caspian Sea. A series of hydro-electric plants have been constructed on the river. Its waters are in demand to irrigate crops. Names The river was called Ildaruni in Urartian. Its name in Turkic languages is Zangu, Zanga, Zangi, or Zengy. Gegham Mountains
Gegham mountains (or Gegham Ridge, ISO 9985: Geġam), hy, Գեղամա լեռնաշղթա (''Geghama lernasheghta'') are a range of mountains in Armenia. The range is a tableland-type watershed basin of Sevan Lake from east, inflows of rivers Araks and Hrazdan from north and west, Azat and Vedi rivers from south-west and Arpachai river from south. The average elevation of the Gegham mountain range is near 2500m. The range is of volcanic origin including many extinct volcanoes. The range is 70 km length and 48 km width, and stretch between Lake Sevan and the Ararat plain. The highest peak of the Gegham mountains is the Azhdahak, at 3597m. Nork-Marash ( hy, Նորք-Մարաշ վարչական շրջան, Nork-Maraš varčakan šrĵan), is one of the 12 districts of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. It is located to the east of the city centre. It is bordered by the Kentron District form the west and the north, Nor Nork from the east and Erebuni from the south. A vardapet or vartabed ( hy, վարդապետ, in Western Armenian or aɾda'pεtin Eastern Armenian) is a highly educated archimandrite in the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian Catholic Church traditions who holds a Doctorate in Theology.
