''Gaura neomexicana'' is a species of flowering plant in the evening primrose family known by the common name New Mexico beeblossom. It is native to the west central United States. There are two subspecies of this species. One, the rare Colorado butterfly plant (ssp. ''coloradensis''), is a federally listed threatened species of the United States.USFWSThreatened status for the Colorado Butterfly Plant (''Gaura neomexicana'' ssp. Endemism is the state of a species being found in a single defined geographic location, such as an island, state, nation, country or other defined zone; organisms that are indigenous to a place are not endemic to it if they are also found elsewhere.
