Garuda Airlines
Garuda Indonesia is the flag carrier of Indonesia, headquartered at Soekarno–Hatta International Airport. A successor of KLM Interinsulair Bedrijf, it is a member of SkyTeam and the second-largest airline of Indonesia after Lion Air, operating scheduled flights to a number of destinations across Asia, Europe, and Australia from its hubs, focus cities, as well as other cities for Hajj. It is the only Indonesian airline that flies to the European airspace. At its peak from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s, Garuda operated an extensive network of flights all over the world, with regularly scheduled services to Adelaide, Cairo, Fukuoka, Johannesburg, Los Angeles, Paris, Rome and other cities in Europe, Australia and Asia. Soekarno–Hatta International Airport ( id, Bandar Udara Internasional Soekarno–Hatta) , abbreviated SHIA or Soetta, formerly legally called Jakarta Cengkareng Airport ( id, Bandar Udara Jakarta Cengkareng) (hence the IATA designator "CGK"), is the primary airport serving the Jakarta metropolitan area on the island of Java in Indonesia. Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia had its inaugural flight on 26 January 1946, from Calcutta to Rangoon, using a Douglas DC-3 with the tail number RI 001, named ''Seluwah''. This is a list of airlines which have an Air Operator Certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Indonesia. There are two types of AOC in Indonesia, AOC 121 and AOC 135. AOC 121 is for commercial scheduled airlines with more than 30 passengers. AOC 135 is for commercial scheduled airlines with 30 or less passengers and chartered airlines. There are 22 AOC 121 holders and 32 AOC 135 holders. By 12 January 2012 all Indonesian scheduled airlines have to operate with at least ten aircraft, and a minimum of five aircraft should be owned. The Ministry of Transport has the right to withdraw their operating certificate in case they do not comply with this regulation (Law Number 1, 2009 about air transport).
