GAIS Bandy
GAIS Bandy is the bandy section of sports club GAIS from Gothenburg. In 1920, GAIS won the Gothenburg district championship, but the club had not had an active bandy department for years when it took up playing bandy again in 2005. GAIS play their home games at Heden in central Gothenburg. GAIS came close to winning their first tournament in 2006 when they lost 6-10 to IFK Kungälv in the final of the Kosa Cup. They hosted one match, Sweden-Russia, at the 2013 Bandy World Championship. 2014–15 Elitserien (bandy)
The 2014–15 Elitserien was the eighth season of the present highest Swedish men's bandy top division, Elitserien. The regular season began on 24 October 2014, and the final was played at Tele2 Arena in Stockholm on 14 March 2015. Summary *At the end of the former season, it looked like the fourteen teams in the league would be the same as last season, because no Allsvenskan team was able to win enough games in the qualification series in March 2014. GAIS was qualified for continued play in Elitserien, but made a decision to withdraw in May 2014. Elitserien (bandy)
The Elitserien (literally, the "Elite League") ( sv, Elitserien i bandy) is since the 2007–08 season the highest bandy league in Sweden. It consists of 14 teams. The season ends with one final game in March. The final was held at Studenternas IP in Uppsala from 1991 until 2012. In 2013 and 2014 the final was played at Friends Arena in Solna, and from 2015 to 2017 it was played at the Tele2 Arena. The final returned to 4,600-capacity Studenternas IP indoor stadium in 2018. Season structure During the regular season the fourteen teams play each other team at home and away - a total of 26 games per team. The top six teams directly qualify for the playoffs for the league championship, while the teams ranked from 7th to 10th enter an additional play-off to decide which teams take the other two championship play-off places. Heden
Heden is a ballcourt and public space and square in the centre of Gothenburg, Sweden. Football matches are played there in the run-up to the final of the Gothia Cup. The final is played at Ullevi. Also the largest handball tournament in the world is played there during the summer: Partille Cup, when Heden is transformed to a handball festival with over 50 playing fields and 15,000 players. The 2013 Bandy World Championship was an edition of the top annual event in international bandy, held between January 23 and February 3, 2013, in Norway and Sweden. 14 countries participated in the 2013 championships: Belarus, Finland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Russia, Sweden (group A), Canada, Estonia, Japan, Hungary, Latvia, the Netherlands, Ukraine and the United States (group B).
