The Gure or Gurre (Somali language, Somali: ''Gurre'') is a Somalis, Somali clan, a sub-clan of the major Dir (clan), Dir clan family. Distribution The Gurre live in Liben Zone, Liben zone and Afder Zone, Afder zone. They dominate the districts, Qarsadula, Gorobakaks and Guradamol, which are named after the Gurre clan, but also live in Elkare, Afder and West-Imi districts. Clan tree Gurre has seven sub tribes namely Libano, Waju, Dhanqe, Jaarso, Yaco, Ya'ambabo and Eejo. Overview The Biimaal or Bimal, is a sub-clan of the major Dir clan family. This clan is widely known for leading a resistance against the colonials in southern Somalia for decades which can be compared to the war of the Sayyid in Somaliland. The Biimaal mainly lives in Southern Somalia, the Somali region of Ethiopia, which their Gaadsen sub-clan mainly inhabits and in the NEP region of Kenya. Distribution The Bimal are the dominant clan in Merca district of Lower Shabelle region and make up the majority in Jammaame district of Lower Jubba region. Bursuuk
The Bursuuk or also written as Barsuk or Barsuq or Barsuug (Somali: Barsuug) is a clan belonging to Madahweyne sub clan of the Dir clan family. They largely live in Ethiopia, in the Somali Region, especially around the ancient city of Harar and between the city and Jigjiga. History The Bursuuk are considered one of the native Dir tribes of Harar. During the Egyptian occupation of Harar, the Barsuug resisted the Egyptian colonizers and fought many battles against them. Gurgura
The Gurgure, Gorgorah or Gurgura ( so, Gurgure, om, Gurgura, ar, ΨΊΨ±ΨΊΨ±Ψ©) is a northern Somali clan, a sub-division of the Dir clan family. Distribution The Gurgure are the majority in the Erer district in the Sitti Zone and Dire Dawa. Gurgure are among the first people who lived around what is now the city of Dire Dawa with their Dir relative Issa. Today the Gurgure live in Dire Dawa, all over Somali Region of Ethiopia, Harar region, Djibouti, Somaliland, Somalia, the Oromia Region and the Afar Region.
