Haryana Legislative Assembly
The Haryana Legislative Assembly or the Haryana Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral state legislature of Haryana state in India. The seat of the Vidhan Sabha is at Chandigarh, the capital of the state. The Vidhan Sabha comprises 90 Members of Legislative Assembly, directly elected from single-seat constituencies. The term of office is five years. History The body was founded in 1966, when the state was created from part of the state of Punjab, by the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966. The house initially had 54 seats, ten reserved for scheduled castes, this was increased to 81 seats in March 1967, and to 90 seats (including 17 reserved seats) in 1977. Highest number of seats ever won was in 1977 when Janata Party won 75 out of 90 seats when in the aftermath of 1975–77 emergency by Indian National Congress's (INC) Indira Gandhi. Umesh Aggarwal
Umesh Aggarwal (born 1 July 1970) is an Indian politician affiliated with the AAP and is a member of the 13th Haryana Legislative Assembly, representing Gurgaon (Vidhan Sabha constituency). He was also serving as Haryana BJP media-in-charge since his appointment in April 2018 till February 2022, before he joined AAP. Career In 2014, Umesh Aggarwal won the 2014 Haryana Legislative Assembly election with a record margin of 84,095 votes from Gurgaon, defeating Gopi Chand Gehlot of Indian National Lok Dal. In April 2018, he was appointed the state media-in-charge of Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana. Gurgaon district, officially known as Gurugram district, is one of the 22 districts of Haryana in northern India. The city of Gurgaon is the administrative headquarters of the district. Legislative Assembly election was held in Haryana on 21 October 2019 to elect 90 members of the Haryana Legislative Assembly. The final voter turnout was recorded at 68.20%. The results were announced on 24 October 2019. The Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party and formed the government in a post-poll alliance with the Jannayak Janta Party and seven Independent MLAs.
