Gracia Baur
Gracia Arabella Baur (born 18 November 1982) is a German singer and songwriter. She rose to fame as a finalist on the debut season of the television series ''Deutschland sucht den Superstar'', the German ''Idol'' series adaptation, placing fifth. Biography Gracia was born in Munich on 18 November 1982 to Roman and Rosemary Baur and was named after Princess Grace (Gracia Patricia) of Monaco, who had died a few weeks earlier. Gracia's identical twin sister was called Patricia after the princess. During her teenage years she took vocal lessons to strengthen her voice. To fulfill her dreams of a career as a professional singer, she started recording demos and passed several auditions. In 2000, she even made it through the first round of ''Popstars'', but was forced out when she forgot the words of her song. Germany participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "Run & Hide" written by David Brandes, Jane Tempest and John O'Flynn. The song was performed by Gracia. The German entry for the 2005 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine was selected through the national final ''Germany 12 Points!'', organised by the German broadcaster ARD in collaboration with Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). The national final took place on 12 March 2005 and featured ten competing acts with the winner being selected through two rounds of public televoting. "Run & Hide" performed by Gracia was selected as the German entry for Kyiv after placing second in the top two during the first round of voting and ultimately gaining 52.8% of the votes in the second round. ''Intoxicated'' is the debut studio album by German recording artist Gracia. It was released by BMG on October 13, 2003, in German-speaking Europe, following her participation in the debut season of ''Deutschland sucht den Superstar'', where she had finished fifth. Taking her work further into the hard rock and pop rock genres, Gracia worked with a small team of collaborators on the album, including duos Christian Hamm and Alain Bertoni as well as Grant Michael B. and Pomez di Lorenzo, among others.
