Gordon Jewett
Gordon Jewett (born 13 January 1978 at Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadians, Canadian Cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier who has competed since 1997. He competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver in the men's Cross-country skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics – Men's 15 kilometre freestyle, 15 km freestyle competition where he finished 52nd with a time of 2:41.6 behind the gold medal time. Jewett's best finish at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was 37th in the individual sprint event at Oberstdorf in FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2005, 2005. His best World Cup finish was 17th in a team sprint event at Canada in 2005. Oberstdorf ( Low Alemannic: ''Oberschdorf'') is a municipality and skiing and hiking town in Germany, located in the Allgäu region of the Bavarian Alps. It is the southernmost settlement in Germany and one of its highest towns. At the center of Oberstdorf is a church whose tall spire serves as a landmark for navigating around town. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2005
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 took place 16–27 February 2005 in Oberstdorf, Germany, for the second time after hosting it previously in 1987. The ski jumping team normal hill event returned after not being held in 2003. The double pursuit distances of 10 km (5 km classical mass start + 5 km freestyle pursuit) women and 20 km (10 km classical mass start + 10 km freestyle pursuit) men were lengthened to 15 km for women (7.5 km classical mass start + 7.5 km freestyle pursuit) and 30 km for men (15 km classical mass start + 15 km freestyle pursuit). The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships is a biennial nordic skiing event organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS). The World Championships was started in 1925 for men and opened for women's participation in 1954. World Championship events include nordic skiing's three disciplines: cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and nordic combined (the latter being a combination sport consisting of both cross-country and ski jumping). From 1924 to 1939, the World Championships were held every year, including the Winter Olympics. After World War II, the World Championships were held every four years from 1950 to 1982. Cross-country Skiing At The 2010 Winter Olympics – Men's 15 Kilometre Freestyle
The men's 15 kilometre freestyle cross-country skiing competition at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, was held on 15 February at Whistler Olympic Park in Whistler, British Columbia, at 12:30 PST. Each skier starts at 30-second intervals, skiing the entire 15 kilometre course. Estonia's Andrus Veerpalu is both the two-time defending Olympic and World champion in this event, though all three were held in the classical event. Norway's Lars Berger won the 2007 world championships when it was in freestyle. The final World Cup event in men's 15 km freestyle prior to the 2010 Games took place on 5 February at Canmore, Alberta, and was won by Italy's Giorgio Di Centa.
