Gordana Zorić
Gordana Zorić ( sr-Cyrl, Гордана Зорић; born 1954) is a medical doctor and politician in Serbia. She was the mayor of Kovin from 2013 to 2014 and has served in the Assembly of Vojvodina and the National Assembly of Serbia. At one time a member of the Strength of Serbia Movement (''Pokret Snaga Srbije'', PSS), she later joined the Serbian Progressive Party (''Srpska napredna stranka'', SNS). Early life and private career Zorić was born in Kovin, Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, in what was then the People's Republic of Serbia in the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia. She graduated from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Medicine and worked at the Kovin Health Center for more than thirty years. She has also served on Kovin's development council, and from 2005 to 2010 she was a member of the management board of the municipality's Special Hospital for Psychiatric Diseases. 2008 Vojvodina Provincial Election
Provincial elections were held for the unicameral Assembly of Serbia's northern Autonomous Province of Vojvodina on 11 May 2008, with a second-round to be held on 25 May 2008. They were scheduled by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Oliver Dulić on 29 December 2007, as required per the Constitutional Law adopted by the National Assembly of Serbia on 30 September 2006 that proclaimed the new Constitution. Negotiations regarding the new electoral law in the current provincial assembly had failed. The Democratic Party (Serbia) wanted to add 12 guaranteed seats in the parliament for national minorities next to the existing 120, but the proposal didn't reach much overall support. A dual mandate is the practice in which elected officials serve in more than one elected or other public position simultaneously. This practice is sometimes known as double jobbing in Britain and ''cumul des mandats'' in France; not to be confused with ''double dipping'' in the United States (e.g. being employed by and receiving a retirement pension from the same public authority at the same time). 2014 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 16 March 2014, with nineteen electoral lists competing for 250 members of the National Assembly. The election was called early, after tensions in the coalition led by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić scheduled the election at the same time as the previously announced Belgrade City Assembly election. Voter turnout was 53.09%, with 3.22% of votes invalid. 2013 Serbian Local Elections
A small number of municipalities in Serbia held local elections in 2013. These were not part of Serbia's regular cycle of local elections but took place in jurisdictions where either the local government had fallen or the last local elections for four-year terms had taken place in 2009. All local elections in 2013 were held under proportional representation. Mayors were not directly elected but were instead chosen by elected members of the local assemblies. Parties were required to cross a five per cent electoral threshold (of all votes, not only of valid votes), although this requirement was waived for parties representing national minority communities.
