The Golf Illustrated Gold Vase was a prestigious amateur golf tournament in England. The vase, valued at 250 guineas, was presented by the proprietors the ''Golf Illustrated''. The initial event was to be at Mid-Surrey on 17 June and was open to amateurs with a handicap of scratch or better. The vase would be held by the winner's home club and the winner himself would receive a silver replica. Three consecutive wins would win the vase outright. Sunningdale Golf Club is a golf club in Sunningdale, Berkshire, England, located approximately west-southwest of London. Sunningdale Golf Club was founded in 1900 and has two eighteen hole golf courses: the Old Course, designed by Willie Park Jr., and the New Course, designed by Harry Colt, which opened in 1923. Stephen Keppler
Stephen Derek Keppler (born February 18, 1961) is an English-American professional golfer. Keppler was born in London, England. He played college golf at Florida State University from 1980 to 1983, where he was a third-team All-American. Following his senior season, Keppler for Great Britain and Ireland in the 1983 Walker Cup. He played on the European Tour in 1984 with little success, making only three cuts in 13 events. He later became a club professional at several clubs in Georgia. A four-time winner of the Georgia PGA Championship and two-time winner of the Georgia Open, Keppler had his PGA Tour highlight when he led the 1995 BellSouth Classic after three rounds, only to finish third. Jon Marks
Jon Marks was a British jazz pianist. Biography Early influences Jon Marks began learning the piano at the age of seven. The lessons discontinued at age 12 when interest in New Orleans Jazz and improvisation occupied his practice time. His brother David Marks played the banjo. When he was 14 David took Jon to a jazz gig where he snuck in behind the piano and played for the first time in public - he never looked back. Later, Jon was fortunate to work together with Alton Purnell (Bunk Johnson and George Lewis' pianist) and received musical assistance and inspiration from him from 1964 until Purnell's death in 1987. Other major influences included pianists Joe Robicheaux, Lester Santiago and James "Sing" Miller. Mark Davis (born 4 July 1964) is an English professional golfer. Davis was born in Brentwood, Essex. In 1984, he won the Brabazon Trophy and represented England in the European Youths' Team Championship. He turned professional two years later. Davis finished in the top hundred on the European Tour Order of Merit eight times, with a best of 31st in 1994, and twice won the Austrian Open (1991 and 1994). Jim Payne (golfer)
James Robert Payne (born 17 April 1970) is an English professional golfer. Payne was born in Louth, Lincolnshire. He had a promising career as a tournament golfer which petered out by his early thirties, partly due to injury problems which had required him to undergo a spinal fusion operation at the age of 24. As an amateur he won the 1991 European Amateur and the British Youths Open Amateur Championship. He played with Jack Nicklaus in the final round of the 1991 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale and finished as leading amateur. He turned professional after playing in the Walker Cup later that year. In 1992 Payne was Rookie of the Year on the European Tour. He won two European Tour events, the 1993 Turespana Iberia Open de Baleares and the 1996 Italian Open. His last season on the European Tour was 2000. Gary Wolstenholme
Gary P. Wolstenholme MBE (born 21 August 1960) is an English professional golfer, known for his long amateur career, who now plays on the European Senior Tour. Wolstenholme was born in Egham, Surrey. His father was Guy Wolstenholme a professional golfer. He has won The Amateur Championship twice (1991, 2003) as well as many other amateur tournaments around the world. He has played on six Walker Cup teams and is the all-time points leader for the Great Britain and Ireland side. In September 2008, at the age of 48, Wolstenholme turned professional in anticipation of playing senior professional golf in 2010. He attempted to qualify for the European Tour through qualifying school, but failed to advance past the first stage. Andy Rogers (golfer)
Andy Rogers (born August 25, 1986) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He was drafted in the first round, 30th overall, by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Rogers played for the Western Hockey League's Calgary Hitmen from 2003–2005, and for the Prince George Cougars from 2005– 06. Rogers made his pro debut in the 2006–07 season with the Lightning's AHL affiliate, the Springfield Falcons. He was traded on March 4, 2009 along with Olaf Kolzig, Jamie Heward and a fourth-round draft pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Richard Petiot. Rogers was then sent down to their AHL farm club, the Toronto Marlies. On October 4, 2009, Rogers was re-signed by the Marlies under a professional try-out contract.
