GlenDimplex (formerly known as Glen Electric) is an Irish based consumer electrical goods firm headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. The company is privately held, with manufacturing and development centres in the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, China and many other locations around the world. The company also has branches in North America, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, Poland, Belgium, France, Australia and Scandinavia. LEC Refrigeration, known by its full title as Longford Engineering Company Refrigeration, is a British company manufacturing refrigerators and freezers. History It was formed in 1942, by fishmongers Frank Purley and his brother Charles Reginald Purley (born 1910 in Twickenham) as Longford Engineering Company Ltd. Charles had moved to Bognor in 1929. Goblin Vacuum Cleaners was a British brand of vacuum cleaners made from the early 1900s till the early 2000s. History In the early 1930s, Goblin vacuum cleaners were manufactured by the British Vacuum Cleaner and Engineering Co. Ltd. (BVC). The managing director was Hubert Cecil Booth who, the company claimed, had invented the vacuum cleaner in about 1900, although it was subsequently copied in the USA and elsewhere. The Court Circular for 25 October 1902 recorded that Booth had shown the king and queen the vacuum cleaning process at Buckingham Palace, and that as a result of this, BVC vacuum cleaners were installed there and at many other royal palaces throughout Europe. Roberts Radio is a British consumer electronics company that produces radios and related audio equipment. Based in Mexborough, the company has been making radios since its foundation in 1932 and claim to be the oldest active radio manufacturer in the UK. History Roberts Radio was founded in 1932 by Harry Roberts (1910-1969) of Mile End and Leslie Bidmead of Kilburn. They financed the down payment on a small factory in London's Soho by selling Bidmead's motorbike. A few years later they moved across Oxford Street to no. 41 Rathbone Place. Mexborough is a town in the City of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. Situated between Manvers and Denaby Main, it lies on the River Don close to where it joins the River Dearne, and the A6023 road runs through the town.
