Giorgio Sirilli
Giorgio Sirilli (born 1949 in Albano Laziale) is an Italian scholar in the field of science and technology policy. Biography After graduation in Economics from the University of Rome "La Sapienza", he did research at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at Sussex University in England with Christopher Freeman and Keith Pavitt, and at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Professor of Economics and Management of innovation in various Italian universities ( LUISS, Tor Vergata University, Unitelma). As chairman of the OECD Group of National Experts on Science and Technology Indicators (NESTI) he contributed to the development and revision of various statistical manuals (Frascati Manual on R&DOslo Manual on Technological and Organizational Innovation Canberra Manual on Human Resources for Science and Technology, Patents Manual). Albano Laziale (; it, label= Romanesco, Arbano; la, Albanum) is a ''comune'' in the Metropolitan City of Rome, on the Alban Hills, in Latium, central Italy. Rome is distant. It is bounded by other communes of Castel Gandolfo, Rocca di Papa, Ariccia and Ardea. Located in the Castelli Romani area of Lazio. It is sometimes known simply as Albano. Albano is one of the most important municipalities of the Castelli Romani, and a busy commercial centre. Christopher Freeman
Christopher Freeman (11 September 1921 – 16 August 2010) a British economist, recognised as one of the founders of the post-war school of Innovation Studies. He played a lead role in the development of the neo-Schumpeterian tradition focusing on the crucial role of innovation for economic development and of scientific and technological activities for well-being. Freeman was the founder and first Director, from 1966 to 1982, of SPRU, the Science Policy Research Unit of the University of Sussex, England, and RM Phillips Professor of Science Policy and later Professor Emeritus of at the University of Sussex. In 1986, on his formal retirement, he became visiting professor at the Aalborg University in Denmark and professorial fellow at the now Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Keith Pavitt
Keith Pavitt (January 13, 1937, in London – December 20, 2002, in Lewes, East Sussex) was an English scholar in the field of Science and Technology Policy and Innovation Management. He was professor of Science and Technology Policy at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) of the University of Sussex from 1984 to his death. Biography Keith Pavitt grew up in Hackney, London. In 1948 he graduated to Hackney Downs School (formerly The Grocers' Company's School). He won an Open Exhibition for Mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge in the Autumn of 1954. During National Service, he qualified as an RAF pilot. At Cambridge he obtained a First in Engineering in 1959 and was Senior Scholar at Trinity College. He won a fellowship in economics and public policy at Harvard University in 1960-1961. After leaving Harvard, Pavitt began research at the OECD on science and engineering-related public policy.
