Egyptian Basketball Super League
The Egyptian Basketball Super League, also known as the Egyptian Basketball Premier League A, is the top professional basketball division of the Egyptian basketball league system. Administrated by the Egyptian Basketball Federation (EBBFED), it is contested by 16 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams Promotion and relegation, relegated to the Egyptian Basketball Premier League B and replaced by the top two teams in that division. The Gezira Sporting Club ( ar, نادى الجزيرة الرياضى, transliteration:''nādī al-ǧazyrah al-reyādī'') is the largest multi-sport facility in Egypt. It was founded in 1882 and was originally called Khedivial Sporting Club. It is located on the island of Zamalek in Cairo. History The grounds of the Gezira Sporting Club were initially carved out of the ''Khedivial Botanical Gardens'', and as a result acacias and gardens decorate the area. After the land had been formally leased to the British military command in 1882, club rules were licensed and the land was divided into several recreational playing grounds. At first, the club was for the exclusive use of the British Army. Kinidinnin Stéphane Konaté Sornan (born 23 August 1980) is an Ivorian basketball player for the ABC Fighters and . He is nicknamed "El Jefe" ("The Chef"). Professional career Konaté started his professional career with Africa Sports in 2002, while still attending high school. He played with the team for three seasons. In 2005, he signed with Abidjan Basket Club (abbreviated as ABC). Konaté won the 2015 FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup with ABC. He was also named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Kenneth Gasana (born Kenneth Wilson; November 9, 1984) is a Rwandan professional basketball player who currently plays for Bangui Sporting Club of the Road to BAL. Born in the United States, he represents Rwanda internationally. Career Gasana played his final two years of college basketball for Boise State. Gasana started his professional career in 2007. In 2010, Gasana joined Moroccan club Chabab Rif Al Hoceima for one season which was followed by another season at Spaza Sports BC. In the 2014–15 season, he played in Egypt with Gezira. The FIBA Africa Basketball League (formerly named the FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup) was the highest caliber men's professional basketball competition for clubs until 2020, organized by the FIBA Africa and played by the champions of the leagues of the African countries.
