George And Beatovens
George & Beatovens is a Czech rock band, sometimes known as G&B or G+B, formed in 1963 in Prague by singer and guitarist Petr Novák. The band has released several albums and numerous singles throughout its career. They have broken up several times but remain sporadically active to this day. History In 1963, Petr Novák, at the time playing rhythm guitar, formed a band called Beatles, as a tribute to the English quartet, together with Michal Burian (lead guitar), Karel Sluka (bass), and Jiří Jirásek (drums). This name couldn't be used for performances, however, so the band renamed themselves George & Beatovens, using Jirásek's nickname. The group recorded several demos and first presented them on Jiří Černý's radio show ''Dvanáct na houpačce''. Their original material proved a success, but the band fell apart after Burian and Sluka left to perform military service in 1965. Beat Music
Beat music, British beat, or Merseybeat is a British popular music genre that developed, particularly in and around Liverpool, in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The genre melded influences from American rock and roll, rhythm and blues, skiffle, traditional pop and music hall. It rose to mainstream popularity in the UK and Europe by 1963 before spreading to the North America in 1964 with the British Invasion. The beat style had a significant impact on popular music and youth culture, from 1960s movements such as garage rock, folk rock and psychedelic music to 1970s punk rock and 1990s Britpop. Viktor Sodoma
Viktor Sodoma (born 5 July 1945) is a Czech singer and occasional actor, considered to be a pioneer of 1960s Czech rock and roll and beat music. He began his career by performing at Semafor theatre and during the 1960s, sang with the bands Flamengo and Matadors. After the start of the Czechoslovak Normalization period in 1968, Sodoma returned to the theatre. Between 1971 and 1973, he sang in a band called Shut Up, who originally performed at Semafor and eventually changed their name to František Ringo Čech Group. Michal Pavlík
Michal (; he, מיכל , gr, Μιχάλ) was, according to the first Book of Samuel, a princess of the United Kingdom of Israel; the younger daughter of King Saul, she was the first wife of David (), who later became king, first of Judah, then of all Israel. He is best known for his romantic Beatles inspired pop songs with his bands George and Beatovens and Flamengo in the late 1960s. Flamengo (Czech Band)
Flamengo was a Czech rock band established in 1966, which, at the peak of its popularity consisted of Vladimír Mišík, Ivan Khunt, Pavel Fořt, Jan Kubík, Vladimír "Guma" Kulhánek, and Jaroslav Erno Šedivý. They only released one studio album, ''Kuře v hodinkách'', which, though banned by the authorities, went on to achieve great success in later years. Flamengo reunited for an anniversary concert in 2012 and were later inducted into the Beatová síň slávy. Vladimír Mišík (born 8 March 1947) is a Czech musician and politician. He is the founder or co-founder of the bands The Matadors, Matadors, Blue Effect, and Etc (band), Etc.... Career Music Mišík founded his first band, Uragán, as a teenager. Later, he became the lead singer of Komety, where he met Radim Hladík, with whom he also played in Fontána (later known as The Matadors (band), The Matadors). He also sang in Karel Duba's band. The Matadors (band)
The Matadors were a beat band from Prague, Czechoslovakia active between 1965 and 1968, and intermittently between 1991 and 2008. Their most memorable lineup consisted of Otto Bezloja (bass guitar), Radim Hladík (lead guitar), Jan "Farmer" Obermayer (organ), Miroslav "Tony Black" Schwarz (drums), Karel Kahovec (vocals, rhythm guitar), and Vladimír Mišík (vocals, blues harp). Luboš Andršt (26 July 1948 – 20 December 2021) was a Czech jazz fusion, rock, and blues guitarist, composer, producer, and guitar teacher. Known primarily for his electric rock-influenced guitar playing, he frequently played acoustic guitar on jazz fusion recordings in the 1970s. Since the late 1990s, he was best known as a key figure in the Czech blues and blues rock scene with his Luboš Andršt Blues Band, and shared the stage with a number of American blues musicians, including B.B.
