Luboš Andršt
Luboš Andršt (26 July 1948 – 20 December 2021) was a Czech jazz fusion, rock, and blues guitarist, composer, producer, and guitar teacher. Known primarily for his electric rock-influenced guitar playing, he frequently played acoustic guitar on jazz fusion recordings in the 1970s. Since the late 1990s, he was best known as a key figure in the Czech blues and blues rock scene with his Luboš Andršt Blues Band, and shared the stage with a number of American blues musicians, including B.B. King. His father was Czech ice hockey player and executive Zdeněk Andršt. His cousin Petr Janda is also a guitarist, from the Czech beat band Olympic. Vladimír Padrůněk
Vladimír Padrůněk (17 February 1952 – 30 August 1991) was a Czech jazz and rock bass guitarist. He is known for his work with the groups Jazz Q, Energit (band), Energit, Etc (band), Etc..., Abraxas (Czech band), Abraxas, and others. Biography Padrůněk began playing bass guitar at the age of fourteen. Before that, he studied the violin at school. His first major musical engagement was in the group Exit, in 1969–1970. This is where he first met Luboš Andršt and Slávek Janda. His fame increased dramatically in the early 1970s as he began to play with the band Jazz Q, which was led by Martin Kratochvíl. In 1973, he recorded two albums with Jazz Q - ''Pozorovatelna'' (Watchtower) and ''Symbiosis''. The band planned to tour overseas, but due to his father's previous involvement in the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, political upheaval of 1968, Padrůněk was forbidden to travel to non-communist countries. Framus is a German string instrument manufacturing company, that existed from 1946 until going bankrupt in 1975. The Framus brand was revived in 1995 as part of Warwick GmbH & Co Music Equipment KG, in Markneukirchen, Germany. The company's custom shops are located in Markneukirchen, Shanghai, New York City, and Nashville. Blues Rock Musicians
Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads from the African-American culture. The blues form is ubiquitous in jazz, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll, and is characterized by the call-and-response pattern (the blues scale and specific chord progressions) of which the twelve-bar blues is the most common. Blue notes (or "worried notes"), usually thirds, fifths or sevenths flattened in pitch, are also an essential part of the sound. Blues shuffles or walking bass reinforce the trance-like rhythm and form a repetitive effect known as the groove. The Chicago Blues Festival is an annual event held in June, that features three days of performances by top-tier blues musicians, both old favorites and the up-and-coming. It is hosted by the Chicago, Illinois, City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (formerly the Mayor's Office of Special Events), and always occurs in early June. Marta Kubišová
Marta Kubišová (born 1 November 1942 in České Budějovice) is a Czech singer. By the time of the Prague Spring of 1968, with her song "Modlitba pro Martu" ("A prayer for Marta"), she was one of the most popular female singers in Czechoslovakia. In 1967 she won Zlatý slavík award ( en, Golden Nightingale). Her song "Prayer for Marta" became a symbol of national resistance against the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, occupation of Warsaw Pact troops in 1968. During the Prague Spring, she recorded over 200 SP records and one LP, ''Songy a Balady'' (Songs and Ballads, released in 1969), which was immediately banned from stores. In 1970, the government falsely accused her of making pornographic photographs leading to a ban from performing in the country until 1989. She was a signatory of the Charter 77 proclamation. History Of Czechoslovakia (1948–1989)
From the Communist coup d'état in February 1948 to the Velvet Revolution in 1989, Czechoslovakia was ruled by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia ( cs, Komunistická strana Československa, ''KSČ''). The country belonged to the Eastern Bloc and was a member of the Warsaw Pact and of Comecon. During the era of Communist Party rule, thousands of Czechoslovaks faced political persecution for various offences, such as trying to emigrate across the Iron Curtain. The 1993 Act on Lawlessness of the Communist Regime and on Resistance Against It determined that the communist government was illegal and that the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia was a criminal organisation. Jan Hrubý
Jan Hrubý (born 3 December 1948) is a Czech rock violinist known primarily for playing with the bands Etc..., Framus Five, and Kukulín. Life and career Hrubý was born in Prague in 1948. Between 1964 and 1968, he studied violin at the Prague Conservatory, then went on to play bass and later violin in the group Reciprocity. From 1975 until Vladimír Mišík's performance ban by the Communist government in 1982, he played with the singer's band Etc.... In 1983, he joined Luboš Andršt's Blues Band and a year later, he became a member of Michal Prokop's Framus 5 and significantly influenced the album ''Kolej Yesterday''. When Mišík was able to return to the stage in 1985, Hrubý rejoined Etc..., though only for a year and a half, before returning to Framus 5.
