Geertsen
{{Unreferenced, date=December 2009 Geertsen is a common Family Name in the Netherlands. As a result of the migration of a small Dutch community to Denmark in the 16th or 17th century, it is also in use in Denmark (where it is not to be confused with the Danish Gertsen). The ''Geertsens'' initially settled on the island of Amager along with the rest of the Dutch emigrants. Here they farmed for the nearby Danish capital of Copenhagen, while interacting mainly with the rest of the Dutch community. Later on they spread to other parts of the country, including to the cities of Randers and Ringsted. In Denmark today there live about 700-800 persons with the last name ''Geertsen''. These include politicians Pelle Christy Geertsen and Martin Geertsen. Martin Geertsen
Martin Raahauge Borreskov Geertsen (born 16 March 1970 in Sakskøbing) is a Danish politician, who is a member of the Folketing for the Venstre political party. He entered parliament in 2018 after Søren Pind resigned his seat. He was previously a member of parliament between 2011 and 2015. He is a former mayor of the Culture Committee in Copenhagen and former political leader of the Venstre party in Copenhagen. Political career Martin Geertsen has been a member of Venstre, including its youth arm '' VU'' since 1987, and was the leader of the Falster branch of VU from 1989 to 1990. He started studying political science at the University of Copenhagen in 1991, from which he got his Bachelor of Arts degree. From 1993 to 1994 he was the leader of the Copenhagen branch of VU. Alexander Ivanovich Herzen (russian: Алекса́ндр Ива́нович Ге́рцен, translit=Alexándr Ivánovich Gértsen; ) was a Russian writer and thinker known as the "father of Russian socialism" and one of the main fathers of agrarian populism (being an ideological ancestor of the Narodniki, Socialist-Revolutionaries, Trudoviks and the agrarian American Populist Party). With his writings, many composed while exiled in London, he attempted to influence the situation in Russia, contributing to a political climate that led to the emancipation of the serfs in 1861. He published the important social novel '' Who is to Blame?'' (1845–46). Amager ( or, especially among older speakers, ) in the Øresund is Denmark's most densely populated island, with more than 212,000 inhabitants (January 2021) a small appendage to Zealand. The protected natural area of ''Naturpark Amager'' (including Kalvebod Fælled) makes up more than one-third of the island's total area of 96 km2. June Movement
The June Movement ( da, JuniBevægelsen) was a Danish Eurosceptic political organisation founded 23 August 1992. It took its name from the referendum on the Maastricht Treaty that took place in Denmark in June of that year. The movement was a member of the European political party EUDemocrats - Alliance for a Europe of Democracies. The June Movement acknowledged Denmark's membership of the European Union, but opposed the process of tighter European integration including the Lisbon Treaty, and in general the movement wanted the EU to deal with only cross-border issues such as environmental and trade policies. The movement participated in elections for the European Parliament, but neither in local elections nor in elections for the Parliament of Denmark.
