Gasim Abdullayev
Gasim Abdullayev or Zabul Gasim ( az, Qasım Abdullayev (Zabul Qasım), 18731927) was an Azerbaijani khananda. Biography Gasim Abdullayev was born in 1873 in Shusha. In the last years of his life, he taught mugham at the Shusha Music School and served as chairman of the Republican Trade Union Council of Art Workers. Zabul Gasim died in 1927 in Shusha. Creativity Gasim Abdullayev was also known as "Zabul Gasim" for his well-known performance of "Zabul" mugham. At that time, "Sigah" mugham was more popular in the assemblies of the Azerbaijani people. However, in the late 19th century, singers were more inclined toward "Zabul-segah". The main reason for this popularity was that, Sadigjan had added a "Zabul" veil to the tar. At the beginning of the 20th century, Zabul Gasim had performed in Baku for several times. Jabbar Garyaghdioglu
Jabbar Garyagdioglu or Garyaghdyoglu ( az, Cabbar Qaryağdıoğlu pronounced ) (31 March 1861 – 20 April 1944) was an Azerbaijani folk singer (khananda). He is known as the first khananda to perform mughamats in the Azeri language. He mostly sang in Azerbaijani and Persian. He was widely known both as a khanende and as a composer who performed both folk songs and his own song compositions, he was the author of new texts - tesnifs. His song "Baku" enjoyed great popularity in the 1930s-1940s. Jabbar Karjagdyoglu was also known outside the Caucasus. The art of the singer was admired by Uzeir Hajibeyov and Fedor Shalyapin, Sergei Yesenin and Bulbul, Reingold Glier. In 1906-1912 his voice was recorded by a number of joint stock companies (record companies) in Kiev, Moscow, Warsaw. “Shur”( az, Şur) – is one of the great mughams (a multifrequency vocal-instrumental composition) and one of seven main Mode (music), modes in Music of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani music. Dastgāh-e Homayun ( fa, دستگاه همايون; az, Hümayun) is a musical modal system in traditional mugham Mugham ( az, Muğam) or Mughamat ( az, Muğamat) is one of the many classical compositions from Azerbaijan, contrasting with tasnif and ashik. Bayaty-Shiraz ( az, Bayatı-Şiraz) is a musical modal system in traditional mugham music. This is the sixth mode and consists of 1-1-0.5 tone, which is created in amalgamation of two tetra-chords with the third method. It consists of nine membranes. There passes membrane among the tetra-chords. It creates melancholic feelings at listener. Subgenres of Bayaty-Shiraz are: Bardasht, Isfahanak, Maye, Gardaniyye, Nishibi-Faraz, Bayaty-Isfahan, Khums-Ravan, high-pitched tone Bayaty-Shiraz, Abulchap, Khaveran, Huzzal, Shikasteyi-Fars, Dilruba, space. ''Leyli and Majnun'' ( az, Leyli və Məcnun) is an opera in four acts by Uzeyir Hajibeyov, to an Azerbaijani libretto written by the composer and his brother Jeyhun Hajibeyov. The opera was first performed in Baku in 1908. Performance history It was written in 1907 and first performed on at the Taghiyev Theatre in Baku, which was then part of the Russian Empire. The opera is considered the First Opera of the Muslim East. The first performance of the opera was led by Huseyn Arablinski and Hajibeyov himself played violin. Zulfugar Hajibeyov
Zulfugar Abdulhuseyn oghlu Hajibeyov ( az, Zülfüqar bəy Əbdülhüseyn bəy oğlu Hacıbəyov, 17 April 1884 – 30 September 1950) was an Azerbaijani composer and a member of a family noted for its musical talents. He was one of the founders of the Azerbaijan Music Comedy Theater. Biography Hajibeyov was born in Shusha on 17 April 1884. Hajibeyov's brother Uzeyir Hajibeyov is considered the "Father of Classical Music" in Azerbaijan. Their brother Jeyhun was a publicist, journalist, and ethnographer, and helped Uzeyir compose the opera ''Layla and Majnun''. His son, Niyazi Hajibeyov, was also a composer, and directed the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra for 40 years. Hajibeyov died on 30 September 1950.
