Garden City () is a neighbourhood located in Khartoum, the capital city of Sudan. It is situated near Burrī al Maḩas and is part of the Khartoum State. As a part of Khartoum, Garden City is in close proximity to several landmarks and important places. The University of Khartoum, a well-known public university, is situated about 2.5 kilometres west of Garden City. There are various streets and areas within or nearby Garden City, such as Prince Ahmed Khair Street, Gorashi Garden Roundabout, and Sahafa Street, among others. Khartoum (state)
Khartoum State ( ar, ولاية الخرطوم, Wilāyat al-Kharṭūm) is one of the eighteen states of Sudan. Although it is the smallest state by area (22,142 km2), it is the most populous (5,274,321 in 2008 census). It contains the country's largest city by population, Omdurman, and the city of Khartoum, which is the capital of the state as well as the national capital of Sudan. The capital city contains offices of the state, governmental and non-governmental organizations, cultural institutions, and the main airport. The city is located in the heart of Sudan at the confluence of the White Nile and the Blue Nile, where the two rivers unite to form the River Nile. Khartoum or Khartum ( ; ar, الخرطوم, Al-Khurṭūm, din, Kaartuɔ̈m) is the capital of Sudan. With a population of 5,274,321, its metropolitan area is the largest in Sudan. It is located at the confluence of the White Nile, flowing north from Lake Victoria, and the Blue Nile, flowing west from Lake Tana in Ethiopia. Burri Almahas
Burri Almahas () is a neighbourhood located in the state of Khartoum within northern region of the city of Khartoum, and it is one of the old neighbourhoods of Khartoum. The name consists of two parts: Berri which is derived from "Bar Toti", while the Mahas are the ethnicity that formed the first inhabitants of Tuti Island. Some of them preferred to move from Tuti Island to the mainland of Khartoum because of their cultivation, and they established Al-Mahas land as the first inhabited settlement in Khartoum in 1575.
