Fundación Avina
Fundación Avina is a Latin American philanthropic foundation working towards sustainable development in Latin America by encouraging alliances between social and business leaders. The foundation is part of the Steering Group of the Foundations Platform F20, an international network of foundations and philanthropic organizations. Overview Avina was founded in 1994 by Stephan Schmidheiny. Since 2013, its Chairman has been Sean McKaughan and its CEO has been Gabriel Baracatt. It is based in Panama, and has offices in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Santiago, Chile; Bogota, Colombia; Cuenca, Ecuador; Asuncion, Paraguay; and Lima, Peru. Social Progress Index
The Social Progress Index (SPI) measures the extent to which countries provide for the social and environmental needs of their citizens. Fifty-four indicators in the areas of basic human needs, foundations of well-being, and opportunity to progress show the relative performance of nations. The index is published by the nonprofit Social Progress Imperative, and is based on the writings of Amartya Sen, Douglass North, and Joseph Stiglitz. The SPI measures the well-being of a society by observing social and environmental outcomes directly rather than the economic factors. The social and environmental factors include wellness (including health, shelter and sanitation), equality, inclusion, sustainability and personal freedom and safety. Skoll Foundation
The Skoll Foundation is a private foundation based in Palo Alto, California. The foundation makes grants and investments intended to reduce global poverty. Jeffrey Skoll created the foundation in 1999. The total assets of the foundation (including its affiliated funds) are $1.127 billion as of the end of 2018. The combined entities made grants totaling about $71 million in 2018 (and disbursements of $56M), based on unaudited numbers reported by the foundation. Water scarcity (closely related to water stress or water crisis) is the lack of fresh water Water resources, resources to meet the standard water demand. There are two types of water scarcity: physical or economic water scarcity.
