Frank DiCicco
Frank DiCicco (born May 21, 1946) is a Democratic politician and former Councilman who represented the First District on the City Council of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served for 16 years (4 terms), and decided not to run for a fifth term in 2011. A major accomplishment during his time in office was the 10-year Tax Abatement Plan that sparked development in Center City and on the Philadelphia waterfront. He then launched a consulting firmFrank DiCicco Associates Before running for office he served as an administrator in the Philadelphia Traffic Court system for 16 years. In 2017 DiCicco was appointed by Mayor Jim Kenney as chairman of Philadelphia's Zoning Board of Adjustment, serving until November 2021. DiCicco lives in the Passyunk Square neighborhood. Philadelphia City Council
The Philadelphia City Council, the legislative body of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, consists of ten members elected by district and seven members elected at-large. The council president is elected by the members from among their number. Each member's term is four years, and there are no limits on the number of terms a member may serve. History While William Penn's original 1691 charter for the city of Philadelphia included a "common council," no records exist of this body ever having been convened. Joseph C. Vignola, Sr. (born August 11, 1949) is a Democratic politician from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Political career City Controller In November 1982, Philadelphia City Controller Thomas Leonard resigned his post and announced his intention to run for Mayor (he would ultimately lose the Democratic nomination to Wilson Goode). Vignola ran to succeed him, and was elected in November 1983. Senate candidacy Vignola resigned the office of City Controller in December 1987, and subsequently announced his intention to challenge incumbent Republican Senator John Heinz in the 1988 election. Mark F. Squilla is a Democratic politician and member of the City Council of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Political career Squilla is active in Philadelphia Democratic politics, having held a variety of positions. In the 2004 Democratic primary, he unsuccessfully challenged incumbent State Representative William Keller for a seat in the State House. In 2011, he ran for City Council, seeking to succeed retiring Democrat Frank DiCicco in the First District. Jim Kenney
James Francis Kenney (born August 7, 1958) is an American politician who is the 99th Mayor of Philadelphia. Kenney was first elected on November 3, 2015, defeating his Republican rival Melissa Murray Bailey after winning the crowded Democratic primary contest by a landslide on May 19. Before he became mayor, Kenney was a member of the Philadelphia City Council for 23 years, serving as a Councilman at Large from January 1992 until January 29, 2015, when he resigned to run for mayor.
