Francis X. McGraw
Francis Xavier McGraw (April 29, 1918 – November 19, 1944) was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the Battle of Hürtgen Forest in World War II. McGraw joined the Army from Camden, New Jersey, and by November 19, 1944, was serving as a private first class in Company H, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. At that time, the 26th Regiment was fighting in the Battle of Hurtgen Forest, a grueling dense-forest offensive near the German-Belgian border. During a German counterattack on that day, near Schevenhütte, Germany, he operated his machine gun despite intense enemy fire and left cover in order to retrieve more ammunition. Although wounded, he continued to fire his machine gun until again running out of ammunition. He then engaged the German troops with a carbine, but was subsequently killed. Tegernseer Landstraße
The Tegernseer Landstraße (nicknamed TeLa) is a street in the Obergiesing borough of Munich, Germany, which runs in a southeastern direction and is a total of 4.6 kilometers long. It begins in the north as a straight extension of the Regerstraße, where it is a regular two-lane road until the Tegernseer Platz. At the Tegernseer Platz, a large branch of the Deutsche Post can be found. The building, nicknamed ''Tela-Post'', was built in 1928 in the architectural style New Objectivity. A machine pistol is an autoloading pistol capable of fully automatic fire. The term can also be used to describe a stockless handgun-style submachine gun. The term is a calque of ''Maschinenpistole'', the German word for submachine guns. Machine pistols were developed during World War I and originally issued to German artillery crews who needed a self-defense weapon that is lighter than a rifle but more powerful than a standard semi-automatic pistol. This concept would eventually lead to the development of the personal defense weapon or PDW. McGraw Kaserne
The McGraw Kaserne is a former military installation in southern Munich, Germany, which was used by the U.S. Military during the occupation of Germany after World War II. The main building (building number 7; 110 m × 85 m and 18 m high) was one of the first ones in Germany to be built using steel frame technology. The kaserne was named after PFC Francis X. McGraw.
