FortDax
FortDax was a recording alias of Darren Richard Durham, a composer active in the early 2000s. He was inspired by artists such as Charles Ives and ABBA and he has described FortDax as 'Michael Nyman trapped upside down in a clockwork palace during a snowstorm'. He is most well known for his remix of You Are Here when it became the theme tune of Newswipe with Charlie Brooker and Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe. After five years of working under the pseudonym FortDax, Darren announced that he was feeling boxed in by what was expected from FortDax and that it was time to try something new. Darren has recently started creating some new music under the moniker of Diverse Industries. Biography Darren was active under the name FortDax from 2001 to 2006. Nathan Fake
Nathan Fake is an English electronic music artist from Necton in Norfolk, England, who has released singles as well as three albums on the label Border Community Recordings. In 2006, his debut album ''Drowning in a Sea of Love'' was released on Border Community. He released a six track mini-album ''Hard Islands'' in 2009. His third album ''Steam Days'' followed in 2012. In 2014, Fake founded the label Cambria Instruments with Wesley Matsell, the inaugural release being a split single between the two artists. In February 2020, Fake announced his fifth studio album called ''Blizzards'' would be released by Cambria Instruments on 3 April 2020. In April 2021, Fake released the Sanxenxo EP on Cambria Instruments, recorded during the BLIZZARDS album jam sessions. Mixing It
''Mixing It'' was a radio programme showcasing experimental music. Its original remit was to showcase "crossover" music that blurred the established boundaries between genres. It was originally broadcast as a weekly radio programme on BBC Radio 3 but was axed in 2007 when controller Roger Wright announced a revamped schedule. The programme has since been broadcast by experimental radio station Resonance FM, where it was first renamed as ''MIXINGIT''. However, the BBC objected as it had trademarked the title. The programme was then temporarily renamed as ''MyXINGIT''. The following week, its new permanent title was announced: ''Where's The Skill In That?'' Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe
''Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe'' is a British television review programme created and presented by Charlie Brooker. It is the most recent addition to Brooker's ''Wipe'' series, and the first to be broadcast in HD. The programme is an amalgam of the earlier ''Wipe'' series, with reviews of current television programmes, news events, games, and films. The programme was commissioned by the BBC in November 2012, with six episodes ordered. It began airing on 31 January 2013, and was broadcast on BBC Two. Two more series followed in 2014 and 2015. A special edition of the show entitled ''Election Wipe'' was broadcast on 6 May 2015, the day before the UK general election. In May 2020 a new one-off episode entitled ''Antiviral Wipe'' was broadcast, which was filmed in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ''Newswipe with Charlie Brooker'' is a British news review comedy programme broadcast on BBC Four during 2009 and 2010 which was written and presented by Charlie Brooker. It is similar to Brooker's ''Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, Screenwipe'' series which is also shown on BBC Four. A first series of six episodes ran between 25 March 2009 and 29 April 2009. A second series began on 19 January 2010 and concluded on 23 February 2010. Format The aim of ''Newswipe'' was to expose the inner workings of news media, just as ''Screenwipe'' does to television in general. The series was a comic, thoughtful and acerbic analysis of recent news coverage. ''Newswipe'' also looked at the way the news is presented to the public. MusicBrainz is a MetaBrainz project that aims to create a collaborative music database that is similar to the freedb project. MusicBrainz was founded in response to the restrictions placed on the Compact Disc Database (CDDB), a database for software applications to look up audio CD information on the Internet. MusicBrainz has expanded its goals to reach beyond a CD metadata (this is information about the performers, artists, songwriters, etc.) storehouse to become a structured online database for music. MusicBrainz captures information about artists, their recorded works, and the relationships between them. Recorded works entries capture at a minimum the album title, track titles, and the length of each track.
