Peter Astor (born 1960) is an English songwriter and solo artist, known for his work with The Loft, The Weather Prophets, The Wisdom of Harry and Ellis Island Sound. FortDax
FortDax was a recording alias of Darren Richard Durham, a composer active in the early 2000s. He was inspired by artists such as Charles Ives and ABBA and he has described FortDax as 'Michael Nyman trapped upside down in a clockwork palace during a snowstorm'. He is most well known for his remix of You Are Here when it became the theme tune of Newswipe with Charlie Brooker and Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe. After five years of working under the pseudonym FortDax, Darren announced that he was feeling boxed in by what was expected from FortDax and that it was time to try something new. Darren has recently started creating some new music under the moniker of Diverse Industries. Biography Darren was active under the name FortDax from 2001 to 2006. The Memory Band
The Memory Band is an English folk group founded by Stephen Cracknell. The Memory Band has a rolling cast of collaborators from across the musical spectrum. They made their name with their eponymous debut album released on their own Hungry Hill label and forged their reputation as a live act at emerging British Festivals such as The Green Man Festival, End Of The Road and Homefires. High profile former members of the band include Al Doyle, Adem, Simon Lord from Simian and Black Ghosts, Nancy Wallace and Lisa Knapp. Their third album "Oh My Days" was released in February 2011 and features contributions from young soul singer Liam Bailey, Hannah Caughlin from The Accidental, Jess Roberts, folksinger Jenny McCormick, bass player Jon Thorne from Lamb and drummer Tom Page from experimental electronic duo Rocketnumbernine. Serafina Steer
Serafina Steer (born 30 April 1982) is an English harpist, pianist, singer and songwriter. Early life and education Steer is the daughter of composer Michael Maxwell Steer and stage designer Deirdre Clancy. She started learning the harp at age seven and graduated from Trinity College of Music with first-class honours. Career In 2007 Steer released a 7" single and an album entitled ''Cheap Demo Bad Science'' on Static Caravan records. Some tracks were recorded and produced in collaboration with Mike Lindsay of folktronica band Tunng, while some were recorded with Kristian Robinson, aka Capitol K. The album opens with a cover version of Brian Eno's "By This River" but all other songs are her own. In 2010 she released ''Change is Good, Change is Good'', again on Static Caravan. Fieldhead
Fieldhead are a British band formed in Leeds, England, in 2008 and led by Paul Elam, a member of The Declining Winter. Paul currently resides in London, whilst violinists Elaine Reynolds and Sarah Kemp (both also of The Declining Winter) reside in Manchester and Newcastle upon Tyne respectively. Fieldhead's music is ambient/electronica in style, and is created using a combination of electronics and acoustic instruments. Fieldhead have toured extensively in Europe and Canada, having performed with Tim Hecker, Machinefabriek, Grouper, Amiina and Jeniferever. Tunng
Tunng are an English folk music band. They are often associated with the folktronica genre, due to the electronic influences evident in some of their work. Tunng are often noted for their use of unconventional instruments, including seashells and percussive electronic samples. History Sam Genders and Mike Lindsay, two of the founding members of Tunng, began their musical careers together after meeting at one of Genders's early London solo gigs. Besides releasing five albums and numerous singles since 2004, Tunng have covered Bloc Party's song "The Pioneers". Both the original and cover were featured in the third season of ''The O.C.'' The Yellow Moon Band
The Yellow Moon Band are an English progressive rock band. They released their debut album, '' Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World'' on the Static Caravan label in early 2009, to positive reviews. Their music can be described as a mix of psychedelia, folk, and progressive rock. Biography In 2007 Jo Bartlett and Danny Hagan of It's Jo and Danny, formed The Yellow Moon Band with guitarist Rudy Carroll and Mathew Priest of Dodgy, the four had been performing as the It's Jo and Danny live band in 2006. TYMB produced what they considered to be a new and exciting blend of folk and progressive/psychedelic rock. Shady Bard
Shady Bard are an indie rock band formed in Birmingham, England in 2004, by multi-instrumentalists Lawrence Becko and Tom Rogers. Their music is characterised by complex arrangements and unusual instrumentation of lo-fi folk-influenced indie music. Lyrically their work revolves around issues of ecology and the environment.
