Felipe Alfau Mendoza
Felipe Alfau Mendoza ( – 1937) was a Spanish military officer. He served as the first Spanish High Commissioner in Morocco and as Captain-General of Catalonia. Biography Born in Santo Domingo, son to the Dominican ''trinitario'' Felipe Alfau y Bustamante and Rosa Josefa Mendoza Pineda. Leader of the first brigade of Jägers of Melilla, he was promoted to division general in 1910. After the 1912 Treaty of Fes and the entry in Tétouan of the Spanish forces commanded by Alfau on 19 February 1913, he became the first High Commissioner of the newly created Spanish protectorate in Morocco on 5 April 1913. He left the post on 15 August 1913, when he was replaced by José Marina Vega. Later, he was appointed as Captain General of Catalonia, in 1915. Alfau—who, according Francisco J. Christian Franzen (photographer)
Christian Franzen Nissen (1864–1923) was a Danish photographer and diplomat largely active in Spain. Specialised in portrait photography and often employed by the Spanish Royal Family, he reportedly self-styled as "Photographer of Kings and King of Photographers". Biography He was born in 1864. Once settled in Spain, he opened a photographic studio at the Madrid's . Very appreciated by Queen Mother Maria Christina, he was able to take many full-body portraits of the Spanish Royal Family and the aristocracy. He became consul of Denmark in 1910. He was, along with Kaulak, one of the best known portrait photographers in Spain by the turn of the 20th century. He died in 1923. The Royal and Military Order of Saint Hermenegild ( es, Real y Militar Orden de San Hermenegildo) is both a general military honor and a legion created by Ferdinand VII of Spain on 28 November 1814. The Royal and Military Order of Saint Hermenegild is a military distinction of the Spanish Cavalry created by Ferdinand VII of Spain at the conclusion of the Spanish War of Independence in 1814. The purpose of the Order was to serve as a maximum means of reward for those soldiers who exceeded their military obligations and fought on, surpassing their suffering in battle, and who thus would serve as examples of bravery to His Spanish Majesty's armies.
