Frognal is a ward in the London Borough of Camden, in the United Kingdom. The ward will represent Frognal in the western part of Hampstead. 2022 Camden London Borough Council Election
The 2022 Camden London Borough Council election took place on 5 May 2022. All 55 members of Camden London Borough Council were elected. The elections took place alongside local elections in the other London boroughs and elections to local authorities across the United Kingdom. In the previous election in 2018, the Labour Party maintained its control of the council, winning 43 out of the 54 seats with the Conservative Party forming the primary opposition with seven of the remaining seats. The Liberal Democrats and Green Party were also elected to the council, with three seats and one seat respectively. The 2022 election took place under new election boundaries, which increased the number of councillors to 55. Labour held control of the council, winning 47 seats. The 1982 Camden Council election took place on 6 May 1982 to elect members of Camden London Borough Council in London, England. The whole council was up for election. The election, like the election across the country, was marked by the emergence of the SDP–Liberal Alliance. However, despite winning 25% of the vote across Camden, no Alliance councillors were elected. Few seats changed hands overall, with the Conservatives gaining two seats from Labour in Bloomsbury in the south and losing one seat to Labour in West Hampstead and one in Highgate. Greater London Council
The Greater London Council (GLC) was the top-tier local government administrative body for Greater London from 1965 to 1986. It replaced the earlier London County Council (LCC) which had covered a much smaller area. The GLC was dissolved in 1986 by the Local Government Act 1985 and its powers were devolved to the London boroughs and other entities. A new administrative body, known as the Greater London Authority (GLA), was established in 2000. Pamela Chesters
Pamela Joy Chesters CBE (born 1956) is a former executive of British Petroleum who was later a Camden London Borough Council councillor, a Conservative parliamentary candidate, and an advisor to Boris Johnson. She now serves as Chair of Council at the University of Bath. She is also a Non Executive Director on the Ministerial Board of the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. Alan Greengross
Sir Alan David Greengross (15 April 1929 – 13 August 2018) was a British politician, who served as the final leader of the Conservative Party on the Greater London Council (GLC). Born in London, Alan's father Morris was Mayor of Holborn in the 1960s, while his sister Wendy became a well known counsellor. Greengross was educated at University College School in Hampstead, and then undertook National Service with the Royal Air Force before studying law at Trinity College, Cambridge. After graduation, he joined the family business, the precision engineering firm Indusmond (Diamond Tools) Ltd; he later became its chair and managing director. In 1959, he married Sally Rosengarten, who later became Director General of Age Concern England. Frognal And Fitzjohns (ward)
Frognal and Fitzjohns was a ward in the London Borough of Camden, the United Kingdom. The ward was created for the 2002 elections and covered the western areas of Hampstead, between Hampstead Village and Finchley Road and took its name from Frognal and Fitzjohn's Avenue. The population of this ward at the 2011 Census was 11,986. Frognal and Fitzjohns was represented by three councillors on Camden Borough Council. The ward's last councillors were Siobhan Baillie, Andrew Mennear and Gio Spinella, all of the Conservative Party. The ward was abolished for the 2022 election, and part of its area became the newly created Frognal ward, with a smaller area transferred to Belsize.
