1990 Camden London Borough Council Election
The 1990 Camden Council election took place on 3 May 1990 to elect members of Camden London Borough Council in London, England. The whole council was up for election. Labour comfortably stayed in overall control of the council, despite the Conservatives gaining three seats at their expense in Swiss Cottage. The Green Party came third in vote share with 13% of the vote, but won no seats. Camden London Borough Council is the local authority for the London Borough of Camden in Greater London, England. It is a London borough council, one of 32 in the United Kingdom capital of London. Dianne Hayter
Dianne Hayter, Baroness Hayter of Kentish Town (born 7 September 1949) is a British politician serving as a Member of the House of Lords since 2010. A member of the Labour and Co-operative Party, she was Shadow Deputy Leader of the House of Lords from 2017 to 2021. Hayter represented Socialist Societies on the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party from 1998 to 2010, chairing the committee from 2007 to 2008. Keith Moffitt
Keith Moffitt is a British Liberal Democrat local government politician. He was a Councillor for West Hampstead from 1994, and in the local elections of May 2006 became the first ever Liberal Democrat Leader of Camden London Borough Council, ending Labour's 35-year hold on the borough. He was also the first openly gay leader of the council. In the May 2010 local elections, Moffitt was re-elected for his West Hampstead seat, but removed as Council leader as Labour re-took control of the borough. Following the delayed Haverstock elections, which gave his party a higher number of seats than the Conservatives, he served as Leader of the Opposition. He lost his seat in the 2014 election. Jennifer Helen Jones, Baroness Jones of Moulsecoomb, (born 23 December 1949) is a British politician who served as Deputy Mayor of London from 2003 to 2004. A member of the Green Party of England and Wales, she was until September 2019 the sole Green Party member in the House of Lords. Jones represented the Green Party in the London Assembly from its creation in 2000 until standing down in 2016. Richard Andrew Arthur (born 24 March 1944) is a former Labour politician in England. He was the Leader of Camden London Borough Council from 1993 to 2000 and a councillor for Bloomsbury (1971–1974), Belsize (1974–1976) and Highgate (1990–2002). Andrew Murray (trade Unionist)
Andrew Philip Drummond-Murray (born 3 July 1958), commonly known as Andrew Murray, is a British trade union and Labour Party official and activist. Murray was seconded from Unite the Union to Labour headquarters for the 2017 United Kingdom general election, subsequently becoming an adviser to Jeremy Corbyn from 2018 to 2020. Born into an aristocratic Scottish family, Murray began his career as a journalist and later became a senior official for various trade unions. Roy Shaw (politician)
Roy Edwin Shaw (21 July 1925 – 4 January 2008) was a Labour Party politician in London, England. He was the Leader of Camden London Borough Council from 1975 to 1982, serving on Camden Council and its predecessor councils continuously for 51 years until just before his death, making him the longest-serving councillor in the UK. Shaw was known nationally as an expert on local government. Early life and education Roy Shaw was born in 1925 to Edwin Victor and Edith Lily Shaw in Hampstead as the only son in a family of six children. His family home was in Highfield Road, West Hampstead.
