Fleur Van Der Weel
Fleur van der Weel (born 9 February 1970) is a Dutch illustrator. Career In 2004, Van der Weel and Edward van de Vendel won the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs for their book ''Superguppie'' (2003). She also received the Vlag en Wimpel award for her illustrations in this book. In the years that followed, both published several other books in the ''Supperguppie'' book series. In 2012, they both also published the book ''Hallo'', a picture book on the occasion of the Kinderboekenweek. Van der Weel has illustrated books by various Dutch authors, including Bibi Dumon Tak, Fiona Rempt, Magda Ria Rapoye and Rindert Kromhout. Woutertje Pieterse Prijs
The Woutertje Pieterse Prijs (Dutch for Woutertje Pieterse Prize) is an annual Dutch literary award for the best children's book of the preceding year. History The award was first given in 1988. The award is awarded annually in March or April. The award is named after the character Woutertje Pieterse in ''Ideeën'' written by Multatuli. The award's name refers to the character's curiosity and tendency to go against society's morals. In a similar way, the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs is awarded to books that differ from children's literature with a didactic or moralistic nature. Some authors have received the award multiple times, including Toon Tellegen (1992, 1994), Joke van Leeuwen (1997, 1999) and Paul Biegel (1991, 2000). Edward Van De Vendel
Edward van de Vendel (born 1 August 1964) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. Early life Van de Vendel was born in 1964 in Leerdam, Netherlands. He worked as a teacher for several years before becoming a full-time writer in 2001. Career Van de Vendel made his poetry debut in 1996 with ''Betrap me''. In 2001, Van de Vendel published ''Wat rijmt er op puree?'', the Kinderboekenweekgeschenk, a publication on the occasion of the annual Boekenweek (Dutch Book Week). In 2004, he won the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs together with Fleur van der Weel for the book ''Superguppie''. In 2016, he also won the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs together with Martijn van der Linden for the book ''Stem op de okapi''. Digital Library For Dutch Literature
The Digital Library for Dutch Literature (Dutch: Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren or DBNL) is a website (showing the abbreviation as dbnl) about Dutch language and Dutch literature. It contains thousands of literary texts, secondary literature and additional information, like biographies, portrayals etcetera, and hyperlinks. The DBNL is an initiative by the DBNL foundation that was founded in 1999 by the Society of Dutch Literature (Dutch: Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde). Building of the DNBL was made possible by donations, among others, from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (Dutch: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek or NWO) and the Nederlandse Taalunie. From 2008 to 2012, the editor was René van Stipriaan. The work is done by eight people in Leiden (as of 2013: The Hague), 20 students, and 50 people in the Philippines who scan and type the texts. Boekenweek
In the Netherlands, the Boekenweek (; English: Book Week) is an annual "week" of ten days dedicated to Dutch literature. It has been held in March annually since 1932. Each Boekenweek has a theme. The beginning of the Boekenweek is marked by the ''Boekenbal'' (''book ball''), a gathering that is attended by writers and publishers. Events are held across the country during the Boekenweek, such as book signing sessions, literary festivals and debates. Publications Each year a well-known writer, usually Dutch or Flemish, is asked to write a book, usually a novella, called the ''Boekenweekgeschenk'' (''book week gift''), which is to be given away during the festival. Book shops give a copy of the Boekenweekgeschenk when a customer buys a book in the Dutch language; libraries also give copies of these books when a new person becomes a member. Bibi Dumon Tak
Margaretha Anna (Bibi) Dumon Tak (born 21 December 1964) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. After completing her degree in Dutch Literature, in 2001 Bibi Dumon Tak began her career as a children's non-fiction author with ''Het koeienboek'' (The Cow Book, 2001). Career Dumon Tak made her debut in 2002 with the book ''Het koeienboek''. She won the Zilveren Griffel award for this book. She went on to win the Zilveren Griffel award several more times in the years that followed: in 2004 for ''Camera loopt... Rindert Kromhout (born 9 August 1958) is a Dutch author of children's books and young adult fiction. He is the author of the 2002 ''kinderboekenweekgeschenk'', a commissioned book given away to book buyers during the annual ''Boekenweek''. Biography Kromhout spent part of his childhood in children's homes. He graduated from the MAVO and then attended the Pedagogische academie voor het basisonderwijs, with the intent to teach elementary school. He was more interested in writing, though, and wrote stories and toured with a puppet theater. In 1978 a story of his was published in the Dutch ''Donald Duck'', and two years later he published his first book, ''Een muis bij het fornuis''. In 1982 he became a full-time writer. In 2011 his ''Soldaten huilen niet'' won the inaugural Gouden Lijst, awarded by the Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek for the best Dutch young-adult novel (ages 12–15).
