Bibi Dumon Tak
Margaretha Anna (Bibi) Dumon Tak (born 21 December 1964) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. After completing her degree in Dutch Literature, in 2001 Bibi Dumon Tak began her career as a children's non-fiction author with ''Het koeienboek'' (The Cow Book, 2001). Career Dumon Tak made her debut in 2002 with the book ''Het koeienboek''. She won the Zilveren Griffel award for this book. She went on to win the Zilveren Griffel award several more times in the years that followed: in 2004 for ''Camera loopt... Actie!'', in 2007 for ''Bibi’s bijzondere beestenboek'' and in 2010 for ''Fiet wil rennen''. Her book ''Camera loopt... Actie!'' takes a look behind the scenes of the 2003 film '' Polleke'' which itself is based on children's books written by Guus Kuijer. Gouden Griffel
The Gouden Griffel (Golden Stylus) is an award given to authors of children's or teenagers' literature in the Netherlands. History Since 1971, it is awarded each year during the Dutch Children's Books Week, by the Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (Dutch Book Promotion Society) for the best children's books written in the past year. Between 1954 and 1970, one book per year was declared the "children's book of the year". Since then, ''griffels'' are awarded in several categories. Only novels written in Dutch are eligible for the ''gouden griffel''. However, the runner-up awards (Silver ''griffels'') can also be given to translated works. Aside from these, the ''Gouden Penseel'' (golden paintbrush) is awarded to the best illustrated children's books (with silver ''penseel'' as a runner-up), and since 1997 the Gouden Zoen (golden kiss, with silver as a runner-up) is awarded to the best books for teenagers. Fleur Van Der Weel
Fleur van der Weel (born 9 February 1970) is a Dutch illustrator. Career In 2004, Van der Weel and Edward van de Vendel won the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs for their book ''Superguppie'' (2003). She also received the Vlag en Wimpel award for her illustrations in this book. In the years that followed, both published several other books in the ''Supperguppie'' book series. In 2012, they both also published the book ''Hallo'', a picture book on the occasion of the Kinderboekenweek. Van der Weel has illustrated books by various Dutch authors, including Bibi Dumon Tak, Fiona Rempt, Magda Ria Rapoye and Rindert Kromhout. Jan Paul Schutten
Jan Paul Schutten (born 30 November 1970) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. Career Schutten's debut book ''Ruik eens wat ik zeg, de taal van dieren en planten'' was awarded in 2004 with the Vlag en Wimpel award. The book was illustrated by Sieb Postuma. In 2008, Schutten received the Gouden Griffel award for his book ''Kinderen van Amsterdam'' with illustrations by Paul Teng. In the following year, Schutten wrote the book ''De wraak van het spruitje'', the Kinderboekenweekgeschenk on the occasion of the annual Boekenweek. Schutten won the Nienke van Hichtum-prijs in 2013 for his book ''Het raadsel van alles wat leeft''. He also won his second Gouden Griffel award for this book in 2014. Emanuel Querido (6 August 1871 – 23 July 1943) was a successful Dutch publisher as the founder and owner of N.V. Em. Querido Uitgeversmaatschappij, which published Dutch titles, and of , which published titles of German writers in exile from Nazi Germany. Although he and his wife were murdered by the Nazis in 1943, his company has gone on to publish several important authors. Professional biography In 1898 he decided to found a bookstore at the Binnen-Amstel in Amsterdam. The bookstore became a popular meeting-point for Dutch intellectuals. Querido had close connections with the diamond-polishing trade and supplied the library of the Dutch labour union for diamond workers. When the bookstore started to become profitable, he turned to publishing books, such as a translation of Schopenhauer's ''Parerga and Paralipomena''. Sophia Maria "Fiep" Westendorp (17 December 1916 – 3 February 2004) was a Dutch illustrator who became popular due to her long collaboration with writer Annie M.G. Schmidt with their creation of Jip and Janneke. Career Three generations of Dutch people have grown up with her illustrations. The drawings she made for '' Jip en Janneke'', a series of stories which ran in Dutch newspaper ''Het Parool'' from 1953 to 1957, now adorn a variety of items sold by Dutch department store HEMA. Since the regular Dutch awards for illustrations always eluded her, she was given a unique award for her entire oeuvre in 1997. Westendorp also drew a text comic based on the Annie M.G.
