Jan Paul Schutten
Jan Paul Schutten (born 30 November 1970) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. Career Schutten's debut book ''Ruik eens wat ik zeg, de taal van dieren en planten'' was awarded in 2004 with the Vlag en Wimpel award. The book was illustrated by Sieb Postuma. In 2008, Schutten received the Gouden Griffel award for his book ''Kinderen van Amsterdam'' with illustrations by Paul Teng. In the following year, Schutten wrote the book ''De wraak van het spruitje'', the Kinderboekenweekgeschenk on the occasion of the annual Boekenweek. Schutten won the Nienke van Hichtum-prijs in 2013 for his book ''Het raadsel van alles wat leeft''. He also won his second Gouden Griffel award for this book in 2014. The book was illustrated by Floor Rieder who won the Gouden Penseel award for her illustrations in 2014. The book also marked Rieder's debut as children's book illustrator. Gouden Griffel
The Gouden Griffel (Golden Stylus) is an award given to authors of children's or teenagers' literature in the Netherlands. History Since 1971, it is awarded each year during the Dutch Children's Books Week, by the Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (Dutch Book Promotion Society) for the best children's books written in the past year. Between 1954 and 1970, one book per year was declared the "children's book of the year". Since then, ''griffels'' are awarded in several categories. Only novels written in Dutch are eligible for the ''gouden griffel''. However, the runner-up awards (Silver ''griffels'') can also be given to translated works. Aside from these, the ''Gouden Penseel'' (golden paintbrush) is awarded to the best illustrated children's books (with silver ''penseel'' as a runner-up), and since 1997 the Gouden Zoen (golden kiss, with silver as a runner-up) is awarded to the best books for teenagers. Bibi Dumon Tak
Margaretha Anna (Bibi) Dumon Tak (born 21 December 1964) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. After completing her degree in Dutch Literature, in 2001 Bibi Dumon Tak began her career as a children's non-fiction author with ''Het koeienboek'' (The Cow Book, 2001). Career Dumon Tak made her debut in 2002 with the book ''Het koeienboek''. She won the Zilveren Griffel award for this book. She went on to win the Zilveren Griffel award several more times in the years that followed: in 2004 for ''Camera loopt... Actie!'', in 2007 for ''Bibi’s bijzondere beestenboek'' and in 2010 for ''Fiet wil rennen''. Her book ''Camera loopt... The Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (CPNB, "Collective Promotion for the Dutch Book") is a Dutch organization that includes representatives of bookstores and publishers, whose goal is to promote Dutch literature. History and activities The organization has been active since 1930. One of its main activities is organizing the annual Boekenweek (since 1932), a week-long, nationwide promotional event of Dutch books for adults and children. During Boekenweek the buying public is presented with the ''Boekenweekgeschenk'' ("Book Week Gift"), a free book given to purchasers of another Dutch-language book (above a certain value), or to those who become a member of a library. The Nienke van Hichtum-prijs (Dutch for Nienke van Hichtum Prize) is a biennial Dutch literary award for children's literature awarded by the Jan Campert-Stichting. Digital Library For Dutch Literature
The Digital Library for Dutch Literature (Dutch: Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren or DBNL) is a website (showing the abbreviation as dbnl) about Dutch language and Dutch literature. It contains thousands of literary texts, secondary literature and additional information, like biographies, portrayals etcetera, and hyperlinks. The DBNL is an initiative by the DBNL foundation that was founded in 1999 by the Society of Dutch Literature (Dutch: Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde). Building of the DNBL was made possible by donations, among others, from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (Dutch: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek or NWO) and the Nederlandse Taalunie. From 2008 to 2012, the editor was René van Stipriaan. The work is done by eight people in Leiden (as of 2013: The Hague), 20 students, and 50 people in the Philippines who scan and type the texts.
