Finland In The Eurovision Song Contest 2020
Finland originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song " Looking Back" written by Joonas Angeria, Whitney Phillips, Connor McDonough, Riley McDonough and Toby McDonough. The song was performed by Aksel Kankaanranta. The Finnish broadcaster (Yle) organised the national final in order to select the Finnish entry for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Six entries were selected to compete in the national final on 7 March 2020 where the 50/50 combination of votes from eight international jury groups and votes from the public selected "Looking Back" performed by Aksel Kankaanranta as the winner. Finland was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 14 May 2020. However, the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Aksel Kankaanranta
Aksel Kankaanranta (born 28 January 1998) is a Finnish singer. He was due to represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam with the song " Looking Back", before the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2017, he finished second in ''The Voice of Finland''. He was born in Turku. Cicciolina (song)
"Cicciolina" is a song recorded by Finnish singer Erika Vikman, and written by Vikman, Janne Rintala, Mika Laakkonen, and Saskia Vanhalakka, with production handled by Laakkonen. The song was released through Warner Music Finland and Mökkitie Records on 27 January 2020, as the lead single from Vikman's self-titled debut album, after having been announced as one of the competing entries in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2020, the Finnish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Vikman performed the song during the final of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu on 7 March 2020, where it finished as the runner-up. Erika Vikman
Erika Vikman (born 20 February 1993) is a Finnish singer and songwriter. Beginning her career as a Finnish tango singer, Vikman first received recognition after winning Tangomarkkinat in 2016. She later received further nationwide attention following the release of the single " Cicciolina" in 2020, which became her first top five hit in Finland. Her debut self-titled studio album was released the following year, and topped the charts in Finland. Early life and education Vikman was born on 20 February 1993 in Tampere. Before You Exit is an American pop rock band originally from Orlando, Florida, now based in Los Angeles, California. The band consists of brothers Connor, Riley, and Toby McDonough. Mikko Silvennoinen (14 May 1975 in Kiihtelysvaara) is a Finnish television host, journalist and producer. At 18, he started as a host of the music programme ''Jyrki''. He was one of the first well-known faces of the show. After hosting ''Jyrki'' for one year, Silvennoinen left to study television in the United States where he did interviews and reports about the world of entertainment for Nelonen and the magazines ''Apu'' and ''Katso''. Yle Radio Suomi is a radio channel owned and operated by Finland's national public service broadcaster Yleisradio (Yle).
