Finian Hanley
Finian Hanley (born 4 January 1985) is a former Gaelic football player from Galway. He played his club football with Salthill-Knocknacarra and inter-county football for Galway from 2005 to 2017. He played in the full-back position. In 2008 he was nominated for an All Stars Award. Inter-county In 2005, Hanley was a member of Galway's Under-21 All-Ireland winning team, winning the final against Down with inspired performances from Michael Meehan, Barry Cullinane and club team-mate Seán Armstrong. After being a key figure in Galway's successful Minor and Under-21 teams of recent years, Hanley made his Senior debut against Mayo in the 2005 Connacht SFC Final. He has since made the full-back position his own, winning three Connacht titles, in 2005,2008 & 2016. The Connacht Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played between senior clubs in Connacht, with one qualifying from each of the five individual county championships. The winners of the Connacht football championship qualify for the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Paul Conroy (Gaelic Footballer)
Paul Conroy (born 22 May 1989) is an Irish Gaelic footballer and teacher who plays at senior level for the Galway county team. Conroy was captain of the All-Ireland winning Minor team in 2007 when they narrowly defeated Derry. Conroy made his Senior championship debut against Roscommon and scored finished the game with a tally of 0–6. Conroy won an Galway Intermediate Club Championship with St James' in 2010 and followed that up with a Connacht title. He played twice for Ireland against Australia in the 2013 International Rules Series. Conroy was named as Galway captain for the 2014 season. He is an Irish and business teacher at Coláiste Bhaile Chláir in Claregalway. His fellow teammate Damien Comer also teaches in the school. The Irish language has been an integral part of Conroy's life as his parents hail from the Connemara Gaeltacht. Joe Bergin (Gaelic Footballer)
Joe Bergin (born 17 February 1981) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Galway county team from 2000 to 2012. From Galway, he played his club football with Mountbellew–Moylough. Playing career Bergin's rise at a young age was meteoric. He burst onto the scene in 2000 as part of a Galway side that reached that year's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final; losing to Kerry after a replay. A regular in the team during that campaign as a replacement for the injured Kevin Walsh, Bergin made a quick impression. FBD Insurance League
The FBD, also called the FBD Insurance League, FBD Connacht League, the Connacht FBD Football League or FBD Insurance Connacht GAA Senior Football Competition, is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by Connacht GAA and sponsored by FBD. The participants are the five county teams. Formerly several third-level college teams also competed, but from 2018 onward it became an all-county tournament. In 2019 and 2020 it was a knockout tournament with no league element, and so it was called the "Connacht GAA Senior Football Competition"; in 2023 it was simply referred to as "the FBD." Connacht Senior Football Championship
The Connacht Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition for the senior county teams of Connacht GAA. All of the counties of Connacht participate in the championship, as well as counties London and New York. The winning team receives the Nestor Cup. The Connacht Senior Football Championship is run on a knock-out basis in which once a team loses they are eliminated from the competition. A series of games are played during the summer months and the final is played in June or July. The winner progresses directly to the All-Ireland Super 8s, while losing teams progress to the All-Ireland Qualifiers (before 2001 the All-Ireland was a straight knock-out format meaning all losing teams were eliminated after a single defeat). The GAA Football Under-20 All-Ireland Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the EirGrid GAA Football Under-20 All-Ireland Championship) is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in Ireland.
