Egbert Lachaert
Egbert R. Lachaert (born 4 July 1977, in Ghent) is a Belgian lawyer, politician and party chairman of the Open VLD. Biography Lachaert was born in Ghent and is the son of Flemish politician Patrick Lachaert. He studied law at Ghent University where he was active in the ''Liberaal Vlaams Studentenverbond'' ( LVSV) and served as national president of the LVSV from 1999 to 2000. After graduating he worked for the Flemish think-tank Liberales before training as a lawyer. Lachaert became a member of the Flemish Parliament in 2013 to replace Filip Anthuenis who had resigned his seat. In 2014 Belgian federal election, Lachaert became an MP in the Chamber of Representatives for the East Flanders district and subsequently resigned his seat in the Flemish Parliament. He was re-elected in 2019 and became the Open-VLD's faction leader in the Chamber. Gwendolyn Angeline Albert Maria Rutten (born 26 June 1975) is a Belgian politician. She was the chairwoman of the Flemish liberal party until March 22, 2020. On 11 January 2017 she resigned from the Flemish Parliament in order to prepare her party for the local election of 2018. Rutten was born in Hasselt, and read Law and International Politics at the Catholic University of Leuven. She is also city councillor in Aarschot since 1 January 2007, and ''schepen'' since 1 January 2013. The Chamber of Representatives ( Dutch: , french: link=no, Chambre des représentants, german: link=no, Abgeordnetenkammer) is one of the two chambers in the bicameral Federal Parliament of Belgium, the other being the Senate. Liberales is an independent liberal think tank (some tend to call Liberales left-liberal), located in Ghent, Flanders, Belgium.
