Eva-Maria Bundschuh (born 16 October 1941) is a German operatic soprano who began her career as a contralto. She received international when she collaborated with Harry Kupfer at the Komische Oper Berlin. Life and career Born in Braunschweig a carpenter's daughter, Bundschuh grew up with three siblings near Chemnitz, then Karl-Marx-Stadt. House concerts, school choir and especially the church choir made her want to become a singer. Because she was not granted her wish, she secretly took singing lessons with Emmy Senff-Thieß in her home town in addition to her training as a textile master. She qualified for the Arbeiter-Musiktheater Aue, where she was admitted in the role of Dorabella in Mozart's ''Così fan tutte''. Harry Kupfer
Harry Alfred Robert Kupfer (12 August 1935 – 30 December 2019) was a German opera director and academic. A long-time director at the Komische Oper Berlin, he worked at major opera houses and at festivals internationally. Trained by Walter Felsenstein, he worked in the tradition of realistic directing. At the Bayreuth Festival, he staged Wagner's ''Der fliegende Holländer'' in 1978 and ''Der Ring des Nibelungen'' in 1988. At the Salzburg Festival, he directed the premiere of Penderecki's '' Die schwarze Maske'' in 1986 and ''Der Rosenkavalier'' by Richard Strauss in 2014. Otmar Suitner
Otmar Suitner (German pronunciation: ɔtmaʁ zuˈiːtnɐ 16 May 1922 – 8 January 2010) was an Austrian conductor who spent most of his professional career in East Germany. He was born in Innsbruck and died in Berlin. He was Principal Conductor of the Staatskapelle Dresden from 1960 to 1964, and then Music Director at the Berlin State Opera in East Berlin from 1964 to 1990. A fairly prolific recording artist, he was particularly notable in Austro-German music, having conducted discs of works by Max Reger and Paul Hindemith as well as the first Beethoven symphony cycle to be released on CD. Ruth Berghaus (2 July 1927 – 25 January 1996) was a German choreographer, opera and theatre director, and artistic director. Life and career Berghaus was born in Dresden and studied Expressionist dance and Dance direction with Gret Palucca there and was an advanced student at the German Academy of Arts in Berlin, at least part of the time under Walter Felsenstein – associated with the Komische Oper East Berlin he founded – along with his two other first leading protégés, Götz Friedrich and Joachim Herz (1924–2010). Martin Erhard Fischer (10 November 1922 – 20 December 1996) was a German music and theater director. Career Born in Radeberg, Fischer studied with in Dresden. ''Giulio Cesare in Egitto'' (; , HWV 17), commonly known as ''Giulio Cesare'', is a dramma per musica ('' opera seria'') in three acts composed by George Frideric Handel for the Royal Academy of Music in 1724.
