European Piano Contest Bremen
The European Piano Competition Bremen (German'': Europäischer Klavierwettbewerb Bremen'', also known as the ''Bremer Klavierwettbewerb)'' is an international piano competition held every 2 years in Bremen. It was founded in 1987 by Radio Bremen. The competition is open to pianists from all over Europe, including the musicians from CIS states, Turkey and Israel. Due to its high artistic requirements and esteemed jury, the European Piano Competition Bremen gained a reputable position among international competitions since its inception. The Competition is organized by Radio Bremen, the Sparkasse Bremen, the Glocke, the Sendesaal Bremen and the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra. Gerhard Erber
Gerhard Erber (21 November 1934 – 4 September 2021) was a German classical pianist and academic teacher. He played as a member of the East German ensemble Gruppe Neue Musik Hanns Eisler, which focused on contemporary chamber music. He was a professor of piano at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, and organised a Bach competition in Köthen. Life Born in Dessau, Erber was the son of the piano manufacturer Fritz Erber. He studied piano with Amadeus Webersinke at the Musikhochschule Leipzig from 1953 to 1959. Afterwards, he was the piano teacher of the Thomanerchor. In 1964, he achieved the third prize at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition. He has a broad repertoire, with a focus on contemporary classical music and chamber music. In 1970 he was a founding member of the group Neue Musik Hanns Eisler, with Burkhard Glaetzner and Friedrich Schenker. Piano Competitions
The piano is a stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer material (modern hammers are covered with dense wool felt; some early pianos used leather). It is played using a keyboard, which is a row of keys (small levers) that the performer presses down or strikes with the fingers and thumbs of both hands to cause the hammers to strike the strings. Germaine Mounier
Germaine Mounier (7 February 1920 – 27 June 2006) was a 20th-century French classical pianist and music educator. Biography Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Mounier won First prize at the Conservatoire de Paris. She worked the piano with Yves Nat and Magda Tagliaferro. She entered the École Normale de Musique de Paris, taught in Salzbourg as well as in Bulgaria where she created a ''Concours Albert Roussel''. With pianist Hélène Boschi she formed a duet with a very vast repertoire, recording works by Mozart, Muzio Clementi, Clementi, Debussy and Busoni (disque REM). A great admirer and interpreter of Chopin, Mounier created the ''Festival Chopin'' at the Orangerie of the Parc de Bagatelle in Paris, of which she was Vice-présidente. Klaus Bernbacher
Klaus Bernbacher (born 25 January 1931) is a German conductor, music event manager, broadcasting manager and academic teacher. He co-founded the ''Tage der Neuen Musik Hannover'', a festival for contemporary music, in 1958. He was manager for the broadcaster Radio Bremen from 1962. In Bremen, he was also a cultural politician, a member of the Bremische Bürgerschaft, and an honorary professor at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen. Detlef Kraus
Detlef Kraus (30 November 1919 – 7 January 2008) was a German pianist. He was an internationally known interpreter of the music of Johannes Brahms. Born in Hamburg, Kraus gave his first concert at the age of 16, playing ''The Well-Tempered Clavier'' of Johann Sebastian Bach. His later emphasis was on Brahms, together with conductors like Ferenc Fricsay, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Eugen Jochum, Hans Knappertsbusch, Joseph Keilberth, Kurt Masur, Wolfgang Sawallisch, and Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt, performing in New York City, Tokyo, London, and Berlin. From 1982 he was the president, later the honorary president, of the Johannes-Brahms-Gesellschaft in Hamburg; there he initiated the city's first Brahms competition. Pavel Gililov
Pavel Lvovich Gililov (russian: Павел Львович Гилилов; born 23 June 1950) is a Russian classical pianist who has held German citizenship since 2003. Life Born in Donezk, Gililov's musical talent was discovered by the Russian composer Dmitry Kabalevsky. He completed his studies both in piano performance and Lied piano at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory with distinction. While still a student, he won the 1972 Moscow National Piano Competition and was eventually the 4th prize winner of the 1975 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. He was also a laureate of the International Viotti Piano Competition in Vercelli in 1978. Gililov emigrated in 1978 from the former Soviet Union first to Austria and finally to Germany. Renate Kretschmar-Fischer
Renate Kretschmar-Fischer (1 June 1925 – 4 September 2016) was a German pianist and piano professor at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. Life Born in Lüdenscheid, After the war, Kretschmar-Fischer first studied medicine in Greifswald and then music at what was then the Northwest German Music Academy in Detmold, now the Detmold College of Music. She was trained as a pianist in the master class of Conrad Hansen. She was a scholarship holder for several years at the Music Summer School in Bryanston in England, where Artur Schnabel, Monique Haas, George Enescu, Nadja Boulanger and Igor Stravinsky taught.
