European Comics
European comics are comics produced in Europe. The '' comic album'' is a very common printed medium. The typical ''album'' is printed in large format, generally with high quality paper and colouring, commonly 24x32 cm (9.4x12.6 in), has around 48–60 pages, but examples with more than 100 pages are common. While sometimes referred to as graphic novels, this term is rarely used in Europe, and is not always applicable as albums often consist of separate short stories, placing them somewhere halfway between a comic book and a graphic novel. Europe is a large peninsula conventionally considered a continent in its own right because of its great physical size and the weight of its history and traditions. Helsinki Comics Festival
Helsinki Comics Festival is an annual free cultural event in Helsinki, Finland. It has become the largest comics event in North-Europe. The festival is typically held in early September. The festival has been organized by the Finnish Comics Society since 1979. Fumetto International Comics Festival
The Fumetto International Comics Festival is held annually at Lucerne, Switzerland. The festival was established in 1992 as the Luzern Comix Festival, before growing in size and renaming itself in 2003. The festival has helped Switzerland's comics community unify and grow, crossing the divide between the differing language barriers within the country. The festival attracts both national and international guests. Amadora BD (formerly known as FIBDA) is an annual comic book festival held in Amadora, Portugal. Founded in 1989, it is considered the most important cartoon festival in Portugal and one of the most important European competitions. Generally, the show occurs over the course of three weeks in late October–early November. Capitolias
Capitolias ( grc, Καπιτωλιάς, Kapitolias) was an ancient city east of the Jordan River, and is identified with the modern village of Beit Ras in the Irbid Governorate in northern Jordan. Anciently it was a town of Coele-Syria. The Peutinger Table placed it between Gadara and Adraha (Daraa), 16 miles from each, and the Antonine Itinerary put it at 36 miles from Neve (Nawa, Syria). The Arabic name, ''Beit Ras'', preserves the Aramaic name, ''Bet Reisha'', mentioned in the 6th-century Talmud. Unfortunately, not very many ruins are left behind of the city of Capitolias.
