Erms Valley Railway
The Erms Valley Railway (German: Ermstalbahn, originally written as Ermsthalbahn) is a single-track branch line in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It links Metzingen, where it branches off from the Plochingen–Tübingen railway with Bad Urach (called Urach until July 1983) on the northern edge of the Swabian Jura (''Schwäbische Alb''). For its entire length, the branch line follows the Erms river and it is now operated by the ''Erms-Neckar-Bahn Eisenbahninfrastruktur AG'' (ENAG). History The Erms Valley Railway was opened on 27 December 1873 as a private railway by the ''Ermsthalbahn-Gesellschaft'' ("Erms Valley Railway Company"). The concession consigned the railway with effect from 1 April 1904 to the Kingdom of Württemberg, after which the railway was controlled by the Royal Württemberg State Railways (''Königlich Württembergischen Staats-Eisenbahnen''). Metzingen (Württemberg) station (abbreviated: Metzingen (Württ)) is a railway junction in Metzingen in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is on the Plochingen–Immendingen railway, where the Erms Valley Railway (''Ermstalbahn'') branches off to Bad Urach. It is served by a pair of InterCity trains and regional trains. History Planning and construction During the construction of the Plochingen–Tübingen railway, the Royal Württemberg State Railways (''Königlich Württembergischen Staats-Eisenbahnen'') already foresaw Metzingen becoming a railway junction. The town council asked the State Railways for a station to be built west of the Erms. Reutlingen Hauptbahnhof
Reutlingen Hauptbahnhof is the main station in Reutlingen in the German State of Baden-Württemberg. In addition the city has halts (''Haltepunkte'') at Reutlingen West and in the suburbs of Betzingen and Sondelfingen. They all lie on the Neckar-Alb Railway. ''Reutlingen Süd'' (south) station (formerly called ''Eningen'' station) is no longer in operation. The Ammer Valley Railway (''Ammertalbahn'') runs through the German state of Baden-Württemberg, connecting the university town of Tübingen Hauptbahnhof, Tübingen with Herrenberg station, Herrenberg in the Böblingen (district), Böblingen district. It mostly runs through the valley of the Ammer (Neckar), Ammer river. Herrenberg Station
Herrenberg station is located on the Gäu Railway (german: Gäubahn) and is at the start of the Ammer Valley Railway (''Ammertalbahn''). Because it is a stop for Regional-Express services and it is a terminus for both Stuttgart S-Bahn line S 1 and Regionalbahn services from Tübingen and Bondorf, it is an important transport node.
