Enköpings RK
Enköpings Rugby Klubb - Also known as ERK - is situated in the town of Enköping, which has a population of approximately 40,000 people. The town is within a 40-minute drive of the major cities of Stockholm, Uppsala and Västerås. History ERK was founded in 1968 by Dennis Pettersson, a former Malmö Rugby Club player who moved to Enköping due to work reasons and when arrived found out there was no rugby in that town. Enköping RK is one of the longest serving members of the Swedish Rugby Union, Swedish Rugby Federation (SRF), and it is renowned as being the most successful rugby club, not just in Sweden, but in the whole of Scandinavia. The Club has won a good amount of silverware since its foundation, having been the Swedish Champions in 19 times. Enköping
Enköping is a locality and the seat of Enköping Municipality, Uppsala County, Sweden with 30,000 inhabitants in 2018. Geography Enköping is situated near Lake Mälaren, about 78 km west of Stockholm. A comparably large number of Swedish cities are located in the vicinity of Enköping. The municipal slogan is therefore "Sweden's Closest City". The Swedish Rugby Union ( sv, Svenska Rugbyförbundet) is the governing body for rugby union in Sweden. The Stockholm Rugby Union ( sv, Stockholms Rugbyförbund) was founded on 29 May 1932. Rugby has been played in Sweden since 1933, the first full international being played in 1949 against Denmark. The country celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2008. Sweden has been a member union of World Rugby since 1988 and is one of the 48 members of Rugby Europe. The 2009 FIRA tournament acted as the continent's 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup, 2010 World Cup qualifying tournament. The top four nations from the 2009 Women's RBS 6 Nations Championship, 2009 Six Nations had automatically qualified, but nations finishing fifth and sixth (Scotland and Italy) joined Spain, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Germany, and Belgium to decide the final two places. 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup
The 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup was the sixth edition of the Women's Rugby World Cup and was held in England. The International Rugby Board Executive Committee selected the host union following a recommendation from the Rugby World Cup Limited board after considering bids from the Rugby Football Union and the German Rugby Union – it had been England's third successive bid after being rejected in 2002 and 2006. The tournament was again being organised by the International Rugby Board (IRB) as opposed to the host union, and included five matches for all teams played on 20, 24, 28 August and 1 and 5 September. In May 2009 it was announced that the semi final, 3rd place play off and final would take place at The Stoop and not Twickenham as had previously been suggested. 2012 Women's European Championship
The 2012 Women's European Championship or "European Cup" was the 17th annual rugby tournament organised by FIRA for the continent's national teams and the ninth official continental championship. Only eight teams took part - the lowest entry since 1996 and also the first time since 1996 that Scotland, Wales and Ireland did not take part. The leading four teams played in Group A in Rovereto, Italy between 13 and 19 May, and the other four played at Enköping between 3 and 7 May. The latter tournament also started Europe's Women's Rugby World Cup qualification process, with both finalists qualifying for the continent's qualification tournament in 2013.
