The English National Badminton Championships is a tournament organised by the Badminton England to crown the best badminton players in England. The tournament started in 1964 and is held annually. The first winners were Bill Havers and Ursula Smith in 1964. Darren Hall has won the most singles titles with 10, whilst Gillian Gilks and Julia Mann Julia Mann (born 9 August 1971) is a female retired British badminton player. Badminton England
Badminton England is the national governing body for the sport of badminton in England. It aims to govern, encourage and develop the sport throughout England. Originally established in 1893 as the Badminton Association of England in Portsmouth, the association is now based in Milton Keynes and has departments for Elite Play, Events, Membership, Development and Coaching. It closely liaises with the 41 Counties of England to provide support to the club and league structures. The body was a founding member of the International Badminton Federation, since renamed to Badminton World Federation (BWF), which is the international governing body for the sport. Margaret Barrand
Margaret Barrand (née Margaret Semple) (born 1940) is a former English badminton international player and a former national champion. Biography Barrand became an English National doubles champion after winning the English National Badminton Championships mixed doubles title with Roger Mills in 1965. The following year she won the women's doubles with Angela Bairstow. She was a member of the 1963 English Uber Cup team which finished second to the United States in a tight four games to three final. Derek Talbot
Derek Talbot (born 23 March 1947) is a former English badminton player. One of Britain's most successful "all-rounders," he won eleven English National Championships four singles, three doubles, and four mixed doubles. He also won four Commonwealth Games gold medals and in partnership with the formidable Gillian Gilks he won three mixed doubles crowns at the prestigious All-England Open (1973, 1976, and 1977). Paul Whetnall
Paul E Whetnall (19 February 1947 – 1 May 2014) was an English badminton player who won national and international titles between 1968 and 1980. He was married to Susan Pound Whetnall who was an outstanding player of the same era. Career Whetnall was noted for his shot-making accuracy and tactical astuteness. In his most successful season, 1975–1976, Whetnall won the open men's singles crowns of South Africa, Scotland, Germany, and the USA, as well as his third and last English National singles title. In 1970 Whetnall was a men's singles runner-up in the quadrennial British Commonwealth Games, losing a close final to Canada's Jamie Paulson. Shortly after this, his tournament career suffered a -year hiatus due to a badminton pro-tour venture which folded in 1973. Poole

David Eddy (badminton)
John David Eddy (born 1944) is a retired badminton player from England who won national and international titles from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. Career Eddy represented England and won a bronze medal in the mixed doubles, at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland. Eight years later he was part of the team that won the gold medal in the new team event, at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Canada. Though a highly competent singles player, the crisp hitting Eddy's greatest success came in doubles. Susan Whetnall (born 11 December 1942 in Swanley, née Susan Pound) is a former English badminton player, noted for her anticipation and shot-making ability, who won numerous international titles in doubles and mixed doubles from the mid-1960s through the mid-1970s. She was married to another English former international player, Paul Whetnall, from 1968 until his death in May 2014.
