Elections In Armenia
Armenia has a multi-party system. After latest constitutional reforms, only a legislature is elected on the national level. Electoral system of the National Assembly The National Assembly (Armenia), National Assembly consists of at least 101 seats. Following electoral system amendments introduced in April 2021, members of parliament are elected only through closed list, closed party lists by Party-list proportional representation, party list proportional representation method. Four mandates are reserved for national minorities, provided they are included in corresponding section of party lists. Any top segment of a party list can not include over 70% of representatives of the same sex. Parties need to pass a 5% Electoral threshold, threshold, while alliances (blocs) must pass 7% to be included in mandate distribution. National Democratic Pole
The National Democratic Pole ( hy, Ազգային ժողովրդավարական բեւեռ, translit=Azgayin zhoghovrdavarakan beverr) also known as the National Democratic Alliance or the National Democratic Party, is an Armenian political alliance between the Sasna Tsrer Pan-Armenian Party, the National Progress Party of Armenia, as well as, several independent politicians. The European Party of Armenia was a founding member, but withdrew from the alliance in May 2021. History The alliance was founded on 4 May 2020 by 16 political leaders from the dissatisfaction of the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Armenia by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan. The alliance then shifted its focus onto the shortcomings of the Government of Armenia during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. Freedom Party (Armenia)
Freedom Party ( hy, Ազատություն կուսակցություն, translit=Azatut’yun kusakts’ut’yun) is an Armenian political party. It was founded on 29 May 1997 and is currently led by former Prime Minister of Armenia Hrant Bagratyan. History The Freedom Party was founded in May 1997 by Hrant Bagratyan, who served as Prime Minister of Armenia between 1993 and 1996. Bagratyan was a member of the Armenian National Congress. The party participated in the 1999 Armenian parliamentary election, winning 1.02% of the vote. The party participated in the 2012 Armenian parliamentary election under the Armenian National Congress bloc and Bagratyan was elected as the only MP from his party. On 24 December 2012, Hrant Bagratyan was nominated to participate in the 2013 Armenian presidential election during a party congress held in Yerevan. European Party Of Armenia
The European Party of Armenia () is a Pro-Europeanism, pro-European political party in Armenia. It was founded on 6 November 2018 by film-maker Tigran Khzmalyan. History The founding congress of the European Party of Armenia was held on 6 November 2018, in Yerevan. Tigran Khzmalyan was elected by party members as Chairman. The party then released its charter and manifesto as well as completed its registration with the Ministry of Justice (Armenia), Ministry of Justice on 13 November 2018.
