Eigil Nielsen (footballer, Born 1948)
Eigil Nielsen (6 December 1948 – 26 December 2019) was a Danish footballer who played as a midfielder during the late 1960s, 70s and into the 80s. Club career Nielsen began his youth football by the local club Hjørring IF and with them his professional career in 1966 before moving to KB in 1970. In 1971, he signed for Switzerland's Winterthur and he played there until 1974. Due to financial reasons Winterthur sold him to FC Basel during the summer break. Between the years 1974 und 1978 Nielsen played a total of 164 games for FC Basel scoring a total of 30 goals. 99 of these games and 18 goals were in the Swiss domestic league. 21 games were in the Swiss Cup or Swiss League Cup, 23 were international cup games and 30 were test games. In his debut for Basel on 20 July 1974 in the Cup of the Alps away match against Nîmes Olympique Nielsen scored a hat trick for his new club. Glentoran Football Club is a professional football club that plays in the NIFL Premiership. The club was founded in 1882. History Early history In 1914, Glentoran won the Vienna Cup, becoming the first United Kingdom team to win a European trophy, although as this competition took place several decades before the formation of UEFA, it is not recognised as such. 1960s George Best watched Glentoran with his grandfather as a youth, but was rejected by the club for being "too small and light". However, Best did make one appearance for Glentoran, in the club's centenary match against Manchester United. In 1964–65, Glentoran faced Panathinaikos in the European Cup and drew 2–2 at home and lost 3–2 away. Overview The Swiss Football Association had reformed the Swiss football league system that year, reducing the number of teams in the Nationalliga A from 14 to 12 and increasing the Nationalliga B teams from 14 to 16. The Nationalliga A season 1976–77 was contested by the first 11 teams from the 1975–76 Nationalliga A, 1975–76 season and the sole promoted team from Nationalliga B AC Bellinzona. Parken Stadium, also known simply as Parken and as Telia Parken (2014–2020), is a football stadium in the Indre Østerbro (''Inner Østerbro'') district of Copenhagen, Denmark, built from 1990 to 1992.
