Dustin Risdon
Dustin Risdon (born April 30, 1981) is a Canadian professional golfer. He joined the Canadian Professional Golf Tour in 2002 which has resulted in three Canadian wins. Risdon was born in Strathmore, Alberta, Canada. He won both the Canadian Junior and Juvenile Championships in 1997. He was the Alberta Junior champion in 1998 and 1999. Risdon won the 2008 ATB Financial Classic in his hometown of Calgary in a playoff over George Bradford. He shot 62 in the second round on his way to the title. Risdon finished T-2nd at the Players Cup, T-4th at the Stockton Sports Commission Classic, T-10 at the Saskatchewan Open. Broke through in 2007 by capturing the Telus Edmonton Open to win by a stroke over Alan McLean. Set a course record 63 in second round on his way to the title. Risdon finished T-3rd at the Free Press Manitoba Classic, T-7th at the Desjardins Montreal Open. Risdon missed just one cut all season. The PGA Championship of Canada is a golf tournament organized by the PGA of Canada, an organization founded in 1911 at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club. It was first played in 1912 as the Canadian PGA Championship. It was a Nationwide Tour event from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that it was an event on the Canadian Tour. Stan Leonard holds the record with eight victories. It was an important event on the Canadian Tour PGA Tour Canada, commonly referred to as the Canadian Tour, is a men's professional golf tour headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. Times Colonist Open
The Bayview Place DCBank Open is a golf tournament on PGA Tour Canada. It is the longest running tour event. It is currently played at the Uplands Golf Club in Oak Bay, British Columbia. It has been played at several courses on a rotating basis, all in the Victoria, British Columbia area. Originally played as the Victoria Open in 1981, the tournament was revived in 1984 as a stop on the PGA Tour's satellite Tournament Players Series. Q-School
In professional golf, the term qualifying school is used for the annual qualifying tournaments for leading golf tours such as the U.S.-based PGA and LPGA Tours and the European Tour. A fixed number of players in the event win membership of the tour for the following season, otherwise known as a "tour card", meaning that they can play in most of the tour's events without having to qualify. They join the leaders on the previous year's money list/order of merit and certain other exempt players as members of the tour. Getting through the qualifying school of an elite tour is very competitive and most professional golfers never achieve it. There can be up to four stages to negotiate, each of them like a regular golf tournament with only a small number of players going on to the next stage.
