Times Colonist Open
The Bayview Place DCBank Open is a golf tournament on PGA Tour Canada. It is the longest running tour event. It is currently played at the Uplands Golf Club in Oak Bay, British Columbia. It has been played at several courses on a rotating basis, all in the Victoria, British Columbia area. Originally played as the Victoria Open in 1981, the tournament was revived in 1984 as a stop on the PGA Tour's satellite Tournament Players Series. That series ended after the 1985 season, and the Victoria Open then became a fixture on the Canadian Tour. Golf
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Golf, unlike most ball games, cannot and does not use a standardized playing area, and coping with the varied terrains encountered on different courses is a key part of the game. Courses typically have either 18 or 9 ''holes'', regions of terrain that each contain a ''cup'', the hole that receives the ball. Each hole on a course contains a teeing ground to start from, and a putting green containing the cup. There are several standard forms of terrain between the tee and the green, such as the fairway, rough (tall grass), and various ''hazards'' such as water, rocks, or sand-filled ''bunkers''. Byron Smith (golfer)
Byron Smith (born March 31, 1981) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour. Smith was born in Palm Springs, California and attended Pepperdine University. He did not play golf during his last two years at Pepperdine but he turned professional in 2001. Smith first played on the Canadian Tour in 2005 but did not break through until 2007. In his 2007 Canadian Tour season, he won twice, recorded five top-10 finishes, earned over $89,000 in earnings and won the Order of Merit title. The Order of Merit title win gave Smith a five-year exemption on the Canadian Tour. After a winless 2008 season, Smith won his 3rd Canadian Tour event at the Times Colonist Open in 2009. Rick Todd
Rick Todd (born October 3, 1962) is a Canadian professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, Asian Tour, Japan Golf Tour and the Canadian Tour. Todd was born in Toronto, Ontario. He played college golf at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He was second team All-American in 1986, third team in 1985 and honorable mention in 1984 and made the All- WAC first team four years in a row. He won four tournaments while at UTEP and was elected into the El Paso Golf Hall of Fame in 1984. He turned pro in 1987. Todd joined the PGA Tour in 1990, earning his card through qualifying school. After an unsuccessful year on Tour, he joined the Ben Hogan Tour (now Nationwide Tour) where he won the Ben Hogan El Paso Open in his rookie season. A jay is a member of a number of species of medium-sized, usually colorful and noisy, passerine birds in the Crow family, Corvidae. Ken Duke
Kenneth Wootson Duke (born January 29, 1969) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He formerly played on the PGA Tour, with his sole victory coming at the 2013 Travelers Championship. Early life Duke was born in Hope, Arkansas, the son of Ray and Bettie Duke. As a seventh grader in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, he was diagnosed with scoliosis; it was determined that his spine had a curvature of over 26 percent, and he wore a back brace 23 hours a day. Duke had surgery two years later after it was determined that his spine had a 51 percent curvature. At Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, on February 25, 1985, the day of the surgery, Duke's spine was at 72 degrees and worsening. Jason Bohn
Jason Duehn Bohn (born April 24, 1973) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour. He has won two PGA Tour events. Amateur career Bohn was born in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. In 1992, while a sophomore on the Alabama golf team, Bohn was playing in a charity fund-raiser in Tuscaloosa when he made a hole-in-one worth $1 million. Bohn dropped his amateur status and golf scholarship on the spot and turned professional. He graduated from Alabama in 1995. Paul Devenport
Paul Dale Devenport (born 19 March 1966) is a semi-retired professional golfer from New Zealand. Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Devenport grew up in Paraparaumu Beach where his house backed onto the 13th hole of the Paraparaumu Beach Club. After playing amateur golf in Wellington, he was offered a full golf scholarship from Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas. He later transferred to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to finish his Business Degree before turning pro in 1991. Devenport joined the PGA Tour of Australasia in 1993, but has had most success on the Canadian Tour where he has won four times, including twice in 2001. His final win was the 2001 Shell Payless Open, where he was victorious a few weeks after the death of his mother. Scott Hend
Scott Robert Hend (born 1973) is an Australian professional golfer who has played on a number of the world's main tours. He is renowned as a long hitter. Professional career Hend turned professional in 1997 and joined the PGA Tour of Australasia. He has since played on most of the major golf tours around the world. He has won three times in Australia, and was the inaugural winner of the Von Nida Tour Order of Merit in 2003. He has also won on the Canadian Tour, at the 2002 Victoria Open. David Hearn (golfer)
David Hearn (born June 17, 1979) is a Canadian professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He has also played on the Nationwide Tour, Canadian Tour and the Asian Tour. Hearn was born in Brampton, Ontario. He attended the University of Wyoming, where he played on the golf team. He was a member of the winning Canadian team at the 2001 Four Nations Cup tournament, and played out of the Brantford Golf and Country Club as an amateur. Hearn turned professional late in 2001.
