Taylor Dugas
Taylor Brooks Dugas (born December 15, 1989) is an American former professional baseball outfielder and assistant baseball coach at the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to playing professionally, Dugas played college baseball for the Alabama Crimson Tide, where he set numerous offensive records. Dugas was promoted to the major leagues by the New York Yankees but did not appear in a major league game, making him a phantom ballplayer. Amateur career After beginning youth baseball at the age of five, Dugas joined travel teams that visited Florida and Texas. He attended Teurlings Catholic High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. Playing for the school's baseball team, Dugas had a .640 batting average with 10 home runs in his senior year. He ended his high school career with a .519 batting average. Augustin Joseph "Gus" Dugas (March 24, 1907 – April 14, 1997) was a Canadian-born professional baseball outfielder. He played parts of four seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) between 1930 and 1934, with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, and Washington Senators. Listed at and , he batted and threw left-handed. Biography Dugas first played professionally in 1930, with the minor league Wichita Aviators, a Class A team in the Western League, batting .349 with 203 hits (including 23 home runs) in 143 games. In September, he made his major league debut, appearing in nine games with the Pittsburgh Pirates, batting .290 (9-for-31) with one run batted in (RBI). Gaëtan Dugas (; February 19, 1952 – March 30, 1984) was a Québécois Canadian flight attendant and a relatively early HIV patient who once was widely regarded as "Patient Zero," or the primary case for AIDS in the United States. This claim was later found to be incorrect. In March 1984, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study tracked the sexual liaisons and practices of gay and bisexual men, especially in California and New York. Dugas was code-named "Patient O" (meaning out of state) to indicate his role in a cluster of 40 AIDS cases in the United States. This was misinterpreted as "Patient Zero" and media later extrapolated this information to mean that he was the original carrier of AIDS in the country, although the report itself made no such claim. Jeanne Dugas
Jeanne Dugas (October 16, 1731 October 1817) was an Acadian woman whose life exemplified the history of the Acadian people in the Canadian Maritimes. Early life The daughter of Joseph Dugas, a ship builder and navigator, and Marguerite Richard, she was born in Louisbourg. During the smallpox epidemic of 1732 to 1733, she lost three sisters and her father. Her mother, who took over the management of her husband's affairs, married Philippe-Charles de Saint-Étienne de La Tour in 1736. Around 1738, the family moved to Grand-Pré. Dugas' mother died in 1746. Adult life At the end of the War of the Austrian Succession, Île-Royale (later Cape Breton Island), was returned to France. He last coaches the Edmonton Drillers (CMISL), Edmonton Drillers. Firmin Dugas (March 8, 1830 – March 16, 1889) was a Quebec businessman and political figure. He was a Conservative member of the House of Commons of Canada representing Montcalm from 1871 to 1887 and in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1867 to 1874. Lucien Dugas (December 31, 1897 – October 29, 1985) was an educator, lawyer and political figure in Quebec. He represented Joliette in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1927 to 1936 as a Liberal. Dugas was Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in 1936.
