Die Sekte
Die Sekte is a German rap group from Berlin, formed in 1998 by Sido, B-Tight, Rhymin Simon and Vokalmatador. Originally it consisted of only Sido and B-Tight, also known as duo A.i.d.S. Since 2009, with the release of their debut album ''Die Sekte'', the group consisted of Sido, B-Tight, Alpa Gun, Tony D, MOK, Bendt, Fuhrman and DJ Werd. All members are from Märkisches Viertel, except Alpa Gun (from Berlin-Schöneberg), Tony D and MOK (from Berlin-Neukölln). Die Sekte was one of the first rap groups from Berlin and they have already sold 20,000 copies of their first EP and mixtapes. History They produced their first releases on a PlayStation. Their song lyrics contains themes such as the hard social life in the "ghetto". The new German hip hop style was, at that time, critic about the music production and the song themes. Background After the closure of hip hop label Aggro Berlin, Sido (rapper), Sido got signed to Universal Music Group, Universal, where he produced and released his fourth album ''Aggro Berlin (album), Aggro Berlin''. German hip hop (locally known as ''Deutschrap'', ''Deutsch'' meaning German) refers to hip hop music produced in Germany. Sido (rapper)
Paul Hartmut Würdig (born 30 November 1980), better known as Sido, is a German rapper. He interprets his artist name as "super-intelligentes Drogenopfer" (super-intelligent drug victim). It used to stand for "Scheiße in dein Ohr" (shit into your ear), a line from his track "Terroarr". Sido distinguishes himself by using provocative and aggressive lyrics. After his breakthrough with his debut album '' Maske'' in 2004, he was always seen wearing a silver skull mask. However, since 2005, he no longer wears the mask. B-Tight
Robert Edward Davis (born 28 December 1979), better known by his stage name B-Tight, is an American-born German rapper. Early life Davis was born in Palm Springs, California, to a German mother and an African American father, but grew up in Berlin. When he was younger, he initially wanted to become a professional basketball player, however, a foot injury prevented him from doing so. Davis grew up in Märkisches Viertel in Berlin, where he also met his later roommate and rap partner Sido, with whom he formed the duo A.i.d.S and they began to write song lyrics. The group's beats were made on a PlayStation. Märkisches Viertel (, ''MV'') is a German locality (''Ortsteil'') in the borough (''Bezirk'') of Reinickendorf in Berlin. Its name refers to the March of Brandenburg (german: Mark Brandenburg). Overview It consists of a large housing estate of about 17,000 apartments with chains of high-rises up to 18 floors that were built from 1964 to 1974 by the ''GeSoBau Gesellschaft für sozialen Wohnungsbau'' (Association for Social Apartment Construction).
