Dera Ghazi Khan
Dera Ghazi Khan (), abbreviated as D.G. Khan, is a city in the southwestern part of Punjab, Pakistan. It is the 19th largest city of Pakistan by population. Lying west of the Indus River, it is the headquarters of Dera Ghazi Khan District and Dera Ghazi Khan Division. History Foundation Dera Ghazi Khan was founded in the end of 15th century when Baloch people were invited to settle the region by Shah Husayn, of the Langah Sultanate of Multan, and was named after Ghazi Khan Mirrani, son of Haji Khan Mirrani who was a Baloch chieftain. Dera Ghazi Khan region was part of Multan province of Mughal empire. Fifteen generations of Mirranis had ruled the area. In the beginning of the 19th century, Zaman Khan was the ruler of Dera Ghazi Khan under Kabul. This is a list showing the 100 most populous cities in Pakistan as of the 2017 Census of Pakistan. City populations found in this list only refer to the population found within the city's defined limits and any adjacent cantonment, if exists (except for Gujranwala and Okara). The census totals below come from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics for the four provinces of Pakistan and the Islamabad Capital Territory, and from the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Planning & Development Department (PND AJK) for cities inside Azad Kashmir. The Pakistan Movement ( ur, , translit=Teḥrīk-e-Pākistān) was a political movement in the first half of the 20th century that aimed for the creation of Pakistan from the Muslim-majority areas of British India. It was connected to the perceived need for self-determination for Muslims under British rule at the time. Ghazi Khan Mirrani (Urdu: ) was a mercenary of Dodai tribe who moved to Multan in the late 15th century at the behest of the Langah Sultanate. He was accompanied by his sons, Ghazi Khan, Fatih Khan and Ismail Khan. The Derajat had its existence as an historical area to the Baloch immigration in the fifteenth century. Sultan Husain, the Langah dynasty's Sultan of Multan, being unable to hold his trans-Indus possessions, called in Baloch mercenaries, and assigned these territories to Haji Khan.
