Dave Romney
David Romney (born June 12, 1993) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Major League Soccer club New England Revolution. Career Born and raised in Irvine, California, Romney began his professional career with LA Galaxy II, having previously played in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy with the Irvine Strikers as well as the University of San Francisco men's soccer team and amateur club San Francisco City FC. He made his USL debut against Sacramento Republic FC in March 2015. He became the first LA Galaxy II player to sign a MLS contract when he was signed by LA Galaxy on August 5, 2015. Romney was re-signed by the LA Galaxy at the beginning of the 2019 season. On November 12, 2019, Romney was traded to Nashville SC ahead of their inaugural season in MLS. LA Galaxy
LA Galaxy, also known as the Los Angeles Galaxy, are an American professional soccer club based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The Galaxy competes in Major League Soccer (MLS), as a member of the Western Conference. The club began play in 1996 as one of the league's 10 charter members. The Galaxy were founded in 1994 and are owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group (also owners of 50% of the Los Angeles Kings, as well as an interest in the Los Angeles Lakers). In their early years, the club played its home games at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Since 2003, they have played at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. MLS Cup Playoffs
The MLS Cup Playoffs is the annual postseason elimination tournament of Major League Soccer. The final match of the tournament is the MLS Cup, the league's championship game. Under the current format adopted for the 2019 season, 14 teams qualify for the tournament based on regular-season point totals—the seven highest-placed teams from each the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. Audi is the title sponsor of this tournament. Leagues Cup
The Leagues Cup is an annual association football competition between clubs from Major League Soccer and Liga MX in North America. It debuted in July 2019 with four teams participating from each league. The first edition was a single-elimination tournament hosted in the United States with a final played in Las Vegas on September 18, 2019. Beginning in 2023, the tournament will be expanded to include all clubs from MLS and Liga MX, and will function as the regional cup for the North American zone within CONCACAF, with the top three teams qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions League. The CONCACAF Champions League, known officially as the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League for sponsorship reasons, is an annual continental club football competition organized by CONCACAF. The tournament is contested by clubs from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. International Champions Cup
The International Champions Cup (ICC) was an annual club association football exhibition competition. In 2020, it was abolished due to COVID-19 pandemic. Format The format has changed in each competition. Subsequent tournaments have had different numbers of teams in the three locations. In the 2013 iteration, the participants were designated as part an "Eastern" and a "Western" group based on the location of their group stage matches.
