LA Galaxy
LA Galaxy, also known as the Los Angeles Galaxy, are an American professional soccer club based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The Galaxy competes in Major League Soccer (MLS), as a member of the Western Conference. The club began play in 1996 as one of the league's 10 charter members. The Galaxy were founded in 1994 and are owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group (also owners of 50% of the Los Angeles Kings, as well as an interest in the Los Angeles Lakers). In their early years, the club played its home games at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Since 2003, they have played at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. David Matthew Bingham (born October 19, 1989) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Portland Timbers. Youth David Bingham was born October 19, 1989 in Castro Valley, California to his parents Greg and Lisa Bingham. Bingham played for the youth club, Mustang United based out of Danville, California. In 2007, his club team made it to the Super- Y league National Championships. Bingham was a member of the Super-Y national team in 2006 and 2007. He had 13 shutouts and had a 0.60 goals against average during his senior year in high school. Designated Player Rule
The Designated Player Rule, nicknamed the Beckham Rule, allows Major League Soccer franchises to sign up to three players that would be considered outside their salary cap (either by offering the player higher wages or by paying a transfer fee for the player). The rule, which was adopted ahead of the 2007 MLS season, enables teams to compete for star players in the international football market.
