Dashti Qala District
Dashti Qala District (دشت قلعه) is a district of Takhar Province, Afghanistan. It split from Khwaja Ghar District in June 2005. This district borders Tajikistan. Ai-Khanoum, probably founded by the Seleucid Empire, is located in this district. In 2018, this district was considered contested between the government and the Taliban. Geography Dashti Qala District has an area of 270 square kilometers, comparatively equivalent to Niue. The Panj River borders the district, and the Kokcha River crosses Dashti Qala. The climate of the district is classified as cold, semi-arid steppe on the Köppen–Geiger climate classification system. Khatlon Region
Khatlon Region ( tg, Вилояти Хатлон, ''Viloyati Xatlon''), one of the four provinces of Tajikistan ( tg, вилоят, ''Viloyat''), is the most populous of the four first level administrative regions. It is situated in the southwest of the country, between the Hisor (Gissar) Range in the north and the river Panj in the south and borders on Afghanistan in the southeast and on Uzbekistan in the west. Rustaq District
Rustaq District is a district of Takhar Province, northern Afghanistan. The district centre is the town of Rostaq. As recently as 2020, the district was considered to be under government control, as opposed to control by the Taliban. However, the district has had issues with illegal armed men. Geography Rustaq has an area of 1915 square kilometers, comparatively equivalent to Maui. The district has the Rustaq River, or the Ab-i Rustaq, running through the district, emptying into the Panj River. Some streams run to the Kokcha River. Khwaja Bahauddin District
Khwaja Bahauddin District is a district of Takhar Province, Afghanistan. The district was created from a portion of Yangi Qala District in 2005. 25 villages are located in Khwaja Bahauddin. Geography Khwaja Bahauddin has an area of 178.2 square kilometers, comparatively equivalent to Aruba. There is a road connecting the district with Yangi Qala District and Dashti Qala District. The district is bordered by Yangi Qala District to the north, Rustaq District to the east, Dashti Qala District to the south, and Darqad District to the west. Darqad District ( ps, درقد ولسوالۍ) is a district of Takhar Province, Afghanistan. The district has 34 villages. Darqad did not change between the 325 and 398 district sets. Near the end of 2018, the district was considered to be Taliban-influenced, as opposed to the Afghan government. The district was Taliban-controlled by August 2021. Geography Darqad has an area of 393 square kilometers, comparatively equivalent to the Isle of Wight. The district lies within the watershed of the Ab-i Rustaq River, a tributary of the Panj River. Köppen Climate Classification
The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936.
