Daniel Mateiko
Daniel Mateiko (born 4 August 1998) is a Kenyan long-distance runner and member of the NN Running Team. He has raced mainly between 5000m and half marathon and holds a 58:26 half marathon personal best which makes him the 9th fastest of all time over that distance. Career 2019-2020 Daniel Mateiko began competing on the track primarily at 5000m. On 21 August 2019 he finished 5th at the Kenyan Championships in Nairobi. 2020 saw Mateiko win the Eldama Ravine Half Marathon in Eldama Ravine, Kenya. 2021 Daniel Mateiko began 2021 competing on the track in 10000m. On 8 June as an invited athlete at the Ethiopian Trials in Hengelo, he raced internationally for the first time, and placed 6th in a personal best of 27:03:94. Mateiko then went to the Kenyan Olympic Trials, and placed 5th in a race won by his NN Running Team training partner Geoffrey Kamworor. NN Running Team
NN Running Team is a professional running team based in the Netherlands. It was founded in 2017 by Jos Hermens, the director of Global Sports Communication. The team's title sponsor is the Dutch insurance company NN Group. The running team includes some of the most accomplished distance runners in the world, including many Olympians. One of NN Running Team's training camps is located in Kaptagat, Kenya. Istanbul Half Marathon
The Istanbul Half Marathon ( tr, İstanbul Yarı Maratonu) is an annual road running event over the half marathon distance (21.1 km) that takes place on the streets of Istanbul, Turkey in April. The event is sponsored by Vodafone. It was promoted to the IAAF Gold Label status for 2017. History The event was established in 1987 under the name "Haliç Yarı Maratonu" ("Golden Horn Half Marathon"), and continued to run until 1993. Eldoret
Eldoret is a principal town in the Rift Valley region of Kenya and serves as the capital of Uasin Gishu County. The town was referred to by white settlers as Farm 64, 64 and colloquially by locals as 'Sisibo'. Kip Keino Classic
The Kip Keino Classic is a track and field meeting held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya and named after Olympian Kipchoge Keino. The inaugural edition took place in 2020 as part of the inaugural World Athletics Continental Tour. The venue is at 1,612 metres in elevation, slightly over 1 mile in altitude, thus all marks set here are considered at altitude which is an advantage to short, explosive events like sprinting and jumping due to less air resistance but a dis-advantage to long distance runners due to the availability of less oxygen. Rodgers Kwemoi
Rodgers Kwemoi Chumo (born 3 March 1997) is a Kenyan long-distance runner specialising in the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres. He is the 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist at the longer distance. Born in Kenya's Mount Elgon District, he made his international debut in the junior race at the 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, where his tenth-place finish helped the Kenyan men to the team title. As a result of this, he was signed up by the Asian Kogyo corporate team in Japan. In the 2016 season he won at the Kenyan junior trials and went on to claim the 10,000 m gold medal at the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in championship record time. Kwemoi won back-to-back titles at the Tilburg Ten Miles in 2016 and 2017, but failed to make the national team in the latter season. Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon is an annual half marathon held in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. History The first event, in 2007, saw Samuel Wanjiru breaking the world record, but Wanjiru himself set a new world record only a month later in another race. In the 2009 event Patrick Makau won by running what was, at the time, the second fastest half marathon ever. The 5000 metres or 5000-metre run is a common long-distance running event in track and field, approximately equivalent to or . It is one of the track events in the Olympic Games and the World Championships in Athletics, run over laps of a standard track.
