NN Running Team
NN Running Team is a professional running team based in the Netherlands. It was founded in 2017 by Jos Hermens, the director of Global Sports Communication. The team's title sponsor is the Dutch insurance company NN Group. The running team includes some of the most accomplished distance runners in the world, including many Olympians. One of NN Running Team's training camps is located in Kaptagat, Kenya. Some of its most notable members are: marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge, Geoffrey Kamworor, Kenenisa Bekele, Joshua Cheptegei and multiple world record holder Letesenbet Gidey. The Paris Marathon (french: Marathon de Paris) is an annual marathon hosted by the city of Paris, France. It is the marathon with the second-most finishers in the world, behind the New York City Marathon. The marathon begins along the Champs-Élysées, runs southeast through the city to the Bois de Vincennes, heads back through the city along the River Seine, and finishes on Avenue Foch. Abdi Nageeye
Abdi Nageeye (born 2 March 1989) is a Somali-Dutch long-distance runner from the Netherlands. He won the silver medal in the marathon at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Nageeye placed third at the 2022 New York City Marathon. He is the Dutch national record holder for the 10 km road race, half marathon and marathon. Early life Nageeye was born on 2 March 1989 in Mogadishu, Somalia. At the age of 6, he was resettled as a refugee in the Netherlands. After spending four years in the Netherlands, he then lived with his family in Syria and Somalia. Afterwards, Nageeye returned to the Netherlands via Ethiopia and was adopted by a family in Oldebroek. Nageeye is fluent in Somali, Dutch, Arabic, English, and Amharic. Birhanu Legese
Birhanu Legese Gurmesa (born 11 September 1994) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He won the 2019 and 2020 Tokyo Marathon and finished second at the 2019 Berlin Marathon. Legese is currently part of the NN Running Team, which is managed by Global Sports Communication. Career Born and raised in Woliso, around 100 km south west of Addis Ababa, Birhanu Legese started out as an talented sprinter, winning area 100 metres and 200 m titles. Laban Kipngetich Korir (born 30 June 1985 in Uasin Gishu District) is a Kenyan Long-distance running, long-distance runner who competes in road running competitions. He is currently part of the NN Running Team, an international team of elite long-distance runners managed by Global Sports Communication in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Stephen Kissa (born 1 December 1995) is a Ugandan long-distance runner who specializes in the 5000 metres. He finished 52nd at the 2017 World Cross Country Championships and competed at the 2017 World Championships 5000 metres without reaching the final. The next year he finished 8th in the 5000 metres at the 2018 African Championships. His personal best time is 13:10.93 minutes, achieved in July 2018 at Athletissima in Lausanne. Geoffrey Kipkorir Kirui (Born 16 February 1993) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in cross country running competitions, track and road races up to the marathon. Junior career Kirui won gold in the 10,000 metres at the 2011 African Junior Athletics Championships. He won bronze in the men's 10,000 metres at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics. Abel Kirui (born 6 April 1982) is a long-distance runner from Kenya who competes in marathons. He had back-to-back wins in the World Championship marathon in 2009 and 2011. Kirui won in 2009 with a time of 2:06:54, then defended his title with a winning margin of two minutes and 28 seconds – the largest ever margin at the World Championship event. Eric Kiptanui (born 19 April 1990) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in road running. In 2017, he won the San Silvestre Vallecana 10 kilometres road race in Madrid. Stephen Kiprotich ("KIP-roh-tich", born 27 February 1989) is a Ugandan long-distance runner. He is an Olympic marathon champion, having won the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Kiprotich also won a gold at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. He is the second person, after Gezahegne Abera, to follow an Olympic marathon title with a world championship gold medal for the same event.
